Ocean Ruck

January 14, 2145

I looked out the window. I saw the the bushes and trees fly by as the car raced along the street. I looked up at the blue sky, and saw a flock of crows flying in a perfect "v", with the leader leading the flock as they flap their wings as strong as they can to beat the current of the wind. We turned left, into a huge, open area.

"Okay, Ocean." I heard Cornel Graff say. I turned and faced him quickly. He nodded. "We're here." I looked in front of me. I saw the shuttle that was going to launch me up to space. I felt my stomach turn. Cornel Graff stopped the car. "Let's go." I opened the door and stepped out, shutting the door behind me.

I started to slowly walk up to the white stairs to the shuttle. Every step I took, I could feel my heart rate start to go up.

This is it.

I got to the bottom of the stairs and looked up. It was like the stairway to heaven. I swallowed hard, then started to go up. I was looking down at my feet, looking at the steps so I wouldn't trip. Once I got to the top, I stopped, then turned to Cornel Graff.

"Sir?" I asked softly. He looked up at me.

"Yes, Ocean." He said smoothly.

"Are you going to put the monitor back in me?" I asked horsily. He smiled lightly.

"Of course not. You're going to have your own thoughts." I nodded softly, then turned around. I walked inside the shuttle and looked around. Everyone was in there seat, talking to old friends. I just stood there in shock.

Everyone, one by one, started to stare at me, until everyone was completely silent, with wide eyes, staring. Like I was an alien to them.

Maybe I was.
