New Years Celebration

Meggy raced around the tables, ducking and swerving out of the way as her older brother chased her in a game of tag.

Olivia, the blonde 4 year old sat next to Jennifer, her brunette friend who was the same age as her as they play with their dolls.

The playroom was for the kids. Nathaniel, Meggy, Olivia and Jennifer. They played with each other as the adults and teens did whatever it was that they did. They enjoyed each other's company nonetheless.

Andrew and Michael were upstairs playing videogames, trying to see who could outlast the other in a particularly heated game of Halo: Reach.

Andrew's parents were in the kitchen talking to Meggy and Nathaniel's father as dinner cooled down. In the corner sat an old man with a cane.

Annabelle couldn't shake the feeling of uneasiness. She also couldn't keep her eyes off of HIM. She just knew that if she did he would harm someone. And she couldn't let that happen.

It turns out that the old man, or just any old man (person) can be a very good listener. Just his sort of calm old wisdom vibes (if that makes sense) made Annabelle feel better as she told him about her woes (except the tiny detail of Andrew's father). It was nice she soon found.

Soon the door opened and in walked the old man's wife, children, children in-laws, and grandchildren. Annabelle had never seen a happier person in her life.

If you listened closely, all throughout the house you could hear the Tip Tap of a sink. It was so steady and constant that most people overlooked it. But the old couple and Annabelle noticed.

Everyone gathered at the main room. They watched the TV as the timer counted down. They all shouted together, the adults holding up the younger kids so they could see, "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0!!!"

They all watched as the ball dropped and celebrated. It was a new year, one that held all kinds of new possibilities. 2023 was going to be one hell of a ride, whether that was good or bad they had yet to find out.

Happy new years guys! I hope you have a great 2023. Since this was the last oneshot I will be doing in 2022 I decided to do a crossover of all the oneshots I've done this year. Hope you enjoyed.
