Arsonist's Lullaby
"Do you dance?"
Luke walked back into his room, the book in hand, he saw Leighton hadn't moved from his chair, he was idly tapping his foot.
"Alright, got your stupid book" Luke said with a hint of annoyance in his voice, having to turn down Wednesday. "What's the next step"
It wasn't like he liked her or anything, it was just there was a high chance Leighton would make him to something that night, and he didn't want to waste her time and stand her up.
"The next step is you going to that dance" Leighton informed.
Luke was silent, something Leighton picked up on as he rose from his seat.
"...Why?" Luke asked.
"Because everyone will be there, if your not people will suspect somethings up with you, especially that Wednesday girl. Behind those dead eyes show a mixture of admiration and suspicion, I'm certain" Leighton said.
"I wish you had told me earlier" Luke said trying to regain his composure. "Because I'm pretty sure the only person who would actually ask me, I just rejected"
"Well...figure it out" Leighton sighed as he fizzled out into dust.
"Okay, that concludes our session for today" Luke finished closing his dark maroon notebook.
Luke and Thing's therapy sessions had been going on for quite some time, truth was behind those non existent eyes and mouth was an incredibly well spoken hand with a nice outlook on the world.
Another thing Luke learn was that this was the only time he really ever spent away from Wednesday, and that she'd most likely cut him in half if she were to find out.
Thing did ask about Luke's rejection from earlier in the day, because he found it weird that Wednesday walked into the bedroom silently and sat down silently without acknowledging him, which was usually a sign something was wrong, it was then she told her about the rejection.
Luke told Thing he had plans but those fell through, calling it either karma or a hilarious stroke of bad luck.
"Same time next week I presume?" Luke asked as he stood up, but Thing signalled him to wait there and he scurried off.
He returned later with a letter, Luke had to help Thing grab the letter since it appeared he was struggling, he motioned for Y/N to open it and so he did, not quite expecting what he found.
W.A
Dearest Luke,
I am writing to you this letter because of what transpired earlier today. I understand that I can come across as quite weird, but the truth is, I am intrigued by you. Treat it as an honour if you will.
But more importantly I understand why you rejected me from the Rave'N, we rarely speak when its not for either of our gains, I guess that's why I'm so drawn to you, you don't follow me around like a dog.
I had to have Thing deliver this letter for you, its not because I'm scared or nervous to talk to you or anything, its just I have a lot on my schedule right now, I'm sure you'd understand.
Discard this letter if you wish, burn it in whatever fire you can conjure with your admittedly very attractive hands, just know that whenever I see you, a small, decimal fraction of a fraction of my black hole of a heart is set alight.
