Camila stormed through the new and unfamiliar hall with a fire lit within her aching stomach. Her palms were closed tight and her brows knitted in a vengeful rage. She paced back and forth for a few moments in front of the girls bathroom, mumbling petty remarks to herself before hearing the sound of heels approaching in the distance
Lauren paced towards the younger with a slow stride that stamped her relaxed dominance before stopping in front with a cocked brow and loosely folded arms "What's going on?" She asked almost sarcastically, confused as to how things could have gone so wrong, so fast
Camila grunted, shaking her head with a fake smile "You!" She laughed angrily "Calling me out in front of the entire class!"
"Camila!" Lauren issued in a now stern and almost demanding low voice "When you arrive to my class you have your supplies out and your attitude ready!" She continued without even a twitch "This is not new information, you received your packet weeks ago! You have had more than enough time to prepare!"
"Fuck you!" Camila laughed under her breath, indicating to Lauren that she had been blessed with a student both difficult and obnoxious beyond belief "I didn't read your stupid packet!"
Lauren lowered her chin for a moment before looking up to examine the girls agitated body language "Would you like to tell me why? Do you even want to be here or is this just an easy credit for you!"
"You don't know me!" The girl yelled, inwardly hurt by the notion of art just being an 'easy credit' when in reality it was the only thing she cared to enjoy "I'm a better artist than all of those obedient little rich kids!"
Lauren raised her chin now, looking on at the girl with a stare so conflicted she could hardly decide on what to say "Clearly you have something that's stopping you from showing me that?"
Camila was silenced by the woman's response, she could have yelled back like her previous educators, she could have kicked her out or left her stood there like the tornado she was. Weirdly however, she didn't
"Listen, Camila! Showing up to my class unprepared is a no no, so I will give you one chance to set the record straight!" Lauren began seriously "Do you have any supplies with you or not?"
Camila was evidently battling in her mind to give a sensible response, sadly she only shook her head with a hard kick into the wall in front. Lauren nodded her head with a sigh, turning back towards the class with only the words from her mouth forcing Camila to follow "Redeem yourself Camila, I won't come back and get you again!"
Camila
I wanted to be angry at her, push her away and never return to her stupid class! My love for art however had me torn and now more than ever, I really did want a fresh start. The decision to follow was made easier by the portrait of her behind, her hair was longer than mine and her thighs were something of a masterpiece
I pushed through the door behind her strong perfume and returned frustratedly towards my desk. Nova offered me a gentle smile but all I could focus on was the empty space in front of me.
"Camila!" I heard Lauren bleat bluntly "Come!"
Once again I stood but now to voluntarily approach the front of the class. Admittedly I kind of liked getting closer to this new being, she smelt incredible and had the prettiest makeup I'd ever seen in my life.
She bent down to reach within a black back pack that was crammed with RedBull and paintbrushes. Her palm eventually pulled out a large pencil case with Lauren scribbled across the front "Take this and catch up!" She whispered quietly "If you're such a good artist? Prove it!"
I smirked at the pencil case without a thank you and returned to my desk with a passion to do just that. Nova offered me a spare sheet of canvas paper and I got to work on what I could only describe as a triumph
It was around 30 minutes later when Lauren began talking to the room again, I decided to continue my work given the lost time and found the bell ringing shortly after to signal the end of class
"If you could all bring me your sketches with your names on top! I'll get them back to you tomorrow" I stood from my chair and joined the crowd in front of Lauren's desk, I could tell already they'd had the same infatuation as I had, pushing and shoving for her attention while I did the intelligent thing and waited until last
"Proof enough?" I asked as I shoved the paper onto her desk along with the pencil case I may have stolen a pencil from
I saw her examine the piece for only a second before shooting those sparkly green eyes up and into my stare "When I asked for you to draw the person to your left, did I speak in Spanish or something?"
I couldn't help but laugh "I speak Spanish so I would have understood you either way!" I mocked the best I could "Answer my question anyway!"
Lauren cocked a brow "You drew me Camila! That wasn't the brief!"
"You're welcome! I even gave you a smile, not that I've seen you do that yet!" Her cool was slowly shifting "Besides, you're the one that can't take orders, not me! That's twice you have avoided my question!"
She stood quickly from her desk, slamming the paper down and onto the pile "First off, I don't take orders from students! Secondly, I'd be careful going off on whims, clients like to be heard when you create for them!"
"Whatever!" I spat, rolling my eyes as I tightened the straps on my back pack "I made thirty dollars on a commission piece last summer, I think I'm doing just fine!"
Lauren laughed loudly, folding her arms with a snarky smirk "Yeah, and I made thirty thousand last week baby girl!" She hissed with dominance, forcing my belly into an aching knot of deflated rage "Class is over, I will be giving notes on sketches tomorrow!"
She winked at me before returning to her seat, forcing me to walk away with yet another loss under my belt. I slammed through the door and sighed, maybe college would be harder than I thought.. or would it? Looking back at Lauren's now busy expression I couldn't quite decide
