It was September 1st, 1977, and the great hall was buzzing with chatter as a new year began. The sorting had just finished, and plates were being piled up with food.

At the Gryffindor table, James Potter was entranced by the ginger-haired beauty who was laughing at something her friend had said. Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, and Remus Lupin were seated around their lovestruck friend, planning their pranks, well more like Remus was coming up with plans, Sirius was adding on slight ideas now and then, and Peter was politely nodding along to everything they said. Across from them were Lily Evans, Marlene Mckinnon, Mary Macdonald, and Alice Fortescue. Alice was telling her friends about how she found James' crush on Lily 'sweet and 'romantic'.' Lily, on the other hand, did not agree

"It's romantic," Alice says with a sigh as she shoves some food into her mouth

"No it's annoying, he never leaves me alone and the other day he even stood on top of the desk in transfiguration and declared his love for me, I almost cried in embarrassment" Lily groans, covering her face and letting her head fall to the table with a thud

"She's right, Potter needs to get a life, it's constantly "Lily this" and "Lily that", trust me we know that our best friend is amazing" Marlene rolls her eyes as she thinks of the prat

"Says the one that never stops talking about Dorcas" Mary teases her making Lily and Alice giggle as Marlene glares at the brunette with a small blush as she thinks of the dark-skinned ravenclaw girl that takes up her thoughts

Meanwhile, at the Slytherin table, Regulus Black, Evan Rosier, and Barty Crouch Jr. are having a much quieter talk. Although, the Black heir doesn't seem as into the chat as Evan and Barty. The reason for this is that he can't take his eyes off of the Slytherin beauty that is Adeline Rosier, Evan's sister. Adeline was a year older than him and had always been closer to his cousin, Narcissa Black. She was formerly his brother, Sirius Black's best friend, but Reggie had fallen in love at first sight, which probably isn't saying much for an eleven-year-old, but he couldn't help it. Of course, he'd deny it to everyone other than himself

The Ravenclaw table was much quieter though with Pandora Malfoy and Dorcas Meadows talking, well more like Dorcas listening as Pandora rants about random things from flowers to something she calls "nargles," Dorcas didn't understand it but she wasn't going to stop the blonde from talking about something she was passionate about just because she herself didn't understand what the blonde haired beauty was talking about

Everyone in the great hall is startled, though, as the entrance doors slam open and numerous people arrive in the great hall. Aurors, past students, and the children of the adults who aren't old enough to attend Hogwarts yet

Walburga and Orion Black, Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange, Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy, Adele and Axel Rosier, Molly and Arthur Weasley (along with their kids Bill and Charlie Weasley), Andromeda and Ted Tonks (and their daughter Nymphadora Tonks), Euphemia and Fleamont Potter, Kingsley Shacklebolt, the Minister of Magic, and Alastor Moody walk in with confused looks on their faces

"James and Sirius Potter, what did you do this time?!" Mia asks as she looks toward her sons with a questioning look

"Of course, this is your fault," Walburga sneers at her disowned son

"Nothing, Mum," the boys reply simultaneously, promptly ignoring Walburga

"Then what was the meaning of the letter?" Fleamont asks, confused

"Yes, I would like to know too," Andromeda says

"I do not know what letters you are speaking of, maybe it was a mist-" Dumbledore is cut off as a note along with a VHS and eight VHS tapes land in his lap
