The further the two went, the more arrows with stars that they found. No doubt Lana was the one leaving them for the two of them. Aiden's hopes were definitely raising with the more they found, but after a while, they just found a single tunnel, which they had been going down for some time.
"Do you think we'll catch up? I'm getting so tired, and hungry." Aiden rubbed his stomach. The male yawned as he swam next to Caspian, even resting his head against him. His eyes were so heavy, and all he could think about at this point was being back with the pod, and actually getting some sleep.
"I'd like to think so. I'm sure they rested before they left. If we keep on the track we're on, we should be right on them." Caspian rubbed Aiden's shoulder. The merman looked down the hall, squinting his eyes a bit, "Aiden, do you see that?"
"Hmm?" He looked down the long tunnel, focusing on the end. A faint glow of a light could be seen. Aiden's heart skipped a beat, his gills fluttered, "Do you think it's them?"
"I don't believe anyone else would be down this way, do you?" Caspian gave a sway of his fin, moving forward a bit, but a few more lights could be seen. The male began to slow down the got closer, a clear look of concern on his face.
The closer the got, the more the realization of what was going on hit him. The lights were moving about, floating around inside the hallway in a mass. Jellyfish coated the hallway, large ones let off a vibrant glow as they danced around the hall. Their stingers dancing in the way out.
"How are we supposed to get through these?!" Aiden looked around, "Did, did we go the right way? I can't even see past them!"
Caspian rubbed the back of his head, "I, I don't know. It's all we had to go off of Aiden."
"There are so many tunnels back there. We're lost!" Aiden was beginning to panic, finding himself sinking to the ground.
"Aiden? Caspian is that you!?"
"Mother?"
"L-Lana!? Are you in there?" Aiden bounced up, his eyes widened as he looked through the jellyfish, "Y-Yes it's us! I, how did you all get over there?"
"Oh my bless the sea! You two are alive!" Lana choked up. The queen took a deep breath, trying to pull herself together, "Not, easily. Some of our people are hurt but we managed to get through. We had to stop to get the wounded treated. The larger classes, took the most hits, we, lost a few.. We tried to swim above them, but for some that's not possible.." The Queen looked through the jellyfish, "If you have anything you can wrap your skin in, I suggest it."
"We have to go through this?" Aiden looked at the jellies. They were everywhere, and there really was no way but to swim above them and hope they could get through, but Caspian, the shark class didn't seem to be pleased with this himself. Aiden started going through his satchel, pulling out some bandages and beginning to wrap his stomach and arms, "Here Caspian. Use this. Hopefully we can get through easier with this.."
Caspian was just staring into the jellyfish. The Prince glanced over at Aiden as he was handed the bandages, and he began to do the same. The male dimly shrugged his shoulders, "From what my mother is saying, we don't have much of a choice my love." The male swam up and looked over top of them, "Hmm, okay, there is some space up here, but not a lot. You'll just need to stay up against the rocks okay?"
Aiden swam up to the top and looked. He gasped softly as he saw the little room there was, "Caspian, you won't fit without getting hurt."
Caspian nodded, "I know." The male let out a deep breath, "Mother are you sure this is the only way through?' He clenched his handle as he watched the jellyfish. The man had been hurt by them before. He knew the pain that came with it, and was careful to wrap what skin and scales he could.
"No son. The other exits had been caved in. We didn't have a choice but to come this way. It slowed us down, but you're here now!" The Queen called out to them, "We have healers ready. You two just need to get through."
"How far do these things go?" Caspian and Aiden both were looking at the top of the glowing heads of the jellyfish, then back at one another.
Lana was quiet for the moment. The Queen called out softly, "It's, it's at least a three minute swim to clear them. You two just need to take your time, and I'll be waiting for you on this end."
Aiden took one final glance at Caspian. The two were as protected as what they'd ever be. The merman gently touched the head of the jellyfish to push it down, "Let's do this."
