After three hours, four more drinks, and two hearty helpings of peach cobbler from the dessert menu, Amirah was still sitting silently with her head in her hands. Before long, she let out a huge sigh, tossed back her third glass of wine, and started telling me what I wanted to know.

"Four years ago, this guy named Michael Richardson walked into my office seeking counsel. My family has never done business with Camden BraveHeart before, so I never knew what the guy looked like. He used an alias, and we always conducted business after hours. He explained to me that he was suing his brother for the ownership of their family business. Never in a million years did I think that I would be doing business with a sworn enemy. BraveHeart and Umbutu ties go deeper than some measly business contracts and a couple of signatures. My great-great-great-grandfather had a hand in cultivating the wolf society, as well." The more she talked, the more Jabari began to pull away. He was sensing that something was wrong, but it couldn't have been too serious. Otherwise, my phone would be blowing up. Instead of leaving out the door like Jabari wanted, I stayed put and continued to listen.

"Once I began building my case and dug deeper into his background, it blew me away when I learned his true identity. Instead of me doing the smart thing and alerting my father and brother, I did what I always do and pushed the envelope. I wanted to see how far I could go before it all blew up in my face, but when I slept with him and damn near left my father in ruin, I knew I was in deeper than I ever imagined."

"SHE SLEPT WITH HIM??!!" Jabari was beyond livid.

"YOU SLEPT WITH HIM??!!" I'll be damned. So was I.

"How is that any of your damn concern?!?!" Amirah jumped to her feet and slammed her hands on the table like that was supposed to scare me. Her little fiasco was witnessed by the handful of patrons that were present in the restaurant besides us, and that caused Jabari to take over momentarily and put her back in her place. I stood and flipped the table over which caused Amirah to gasp hard and flop down in her seat. All that sass talk disappeared as she looked up at me like a frightened child.

"My Alpha and Luna hired your trifling ass!!! I am the Commander and Gamma of the BraveHeart tribe!! NO woman that doesn't carry my seed or my mark can talk to me like she's lost her damn mind!! I suggest you calm that shit down!!!" She continued to deflate in her seat as I calmed the maître d by assuring him that covering for the damages was not a problem. I flipped the table back upright and cleaned up the mess that I made because I may have been mad, but my mother would've been tugging at my ears for how I just yelled at a lady.

"She needs some act right, and she better be glad it ain't coming from me. Horny as I am, I'll have her ass walking with a limp..." I quickly threw my hand up to my mouth and faked a cough to mask the laughter that so desperately wanted to escape from my throat. My wolf was too damn much.

I waved the waiter over and told him to return with the check, and while I was taking my seat, I glanced up and saw Amirah wiping her eyes with her dinner napkin. All sense of sympathy was still gone, but the least I could do was apologize for being a jerk.

"Let me apologize for being an asshole, but I will not tolerate anyone trying to make a fool of me in public. I must protect my tribe and the Alpha couple at all times. Granted, I don't know how you do things in Kenya, but honesty is the first rule in becoming a part of the BraveHeart tribe."

"I want to apologize, too. It's just that I've been scolded over and over by my parents and my brother that if someone else tells me how stupid I am, I'm going to freaking scream. I was taking my anger out on the wrong person and I'm sorry."

"Secondly, does Alpha Amir know anything about this??" I was hoping she said the right thing.

"Oh, Goddess, no!! He'd kill me where I stand!! I slept with, laundered money, and assisted in international heists with the man that killed his grandfather!!! The only way he'll find out is in my absence. I screwed things up by messing with this guy. This is the biggest contract my father's had since I got in bed with Camden, and I've burned my professional bridges. We never would've been able to launch this new company if it weren't for Alpha Amir's generosity. Besides, if it weren't for the beauty of modern science, I would've been punished to be the mother of his child. My family couldn't tolerate the thought of me being the banished mother to a bastard child by the enemy, so my only option was the only option if you get my drift." By this point, her image was more than tarnished in my eyes as she continued her story. It was getting to be too much, and suddenly I wasn't feeling too well, so I threw up my hand to stop her because I couldn't bear to hear anymore.
