Chapter 10 - Thema

I was lying in bed staring at the ceiling as today's events replayed in my mind. Of all the times that I've ever needed my father, I needed him now more than ever. I was already going through shit with Nubia and her attitude, now I had the so-called Luna of BraveHeart stopping by unannounced and telling me that my mother isn't dead.

My mother isn't dead...

I wanted to continue hating her, but Nubia just had to put her two cents in,

"She has to be telling the truth!!! I don't think she would lie like that to save anybody!!!"

I wasn't trying to hear it. I was too stubborn for my own good. I didn't understand why all of this was happening to me at a crucial time in my life, but I decided to add it to the fire. I was angry, and all I needed was someone coming to me with lies trying to save their ass from the inevitable.

"You are being such a bitch!! You need to get over yourself!! If we lose our mate to your bullshit, I will make your life hell!!!" Nubia roared in my head then locked herself away in my subconscious. I was really getting tired of Nubia's shit, but I had a nagging feeling that Jehlani was telling the truth, and that feeling is what finally lulled me to sleep.

I was woken up to tiny kisses being placed on my lips and nose. When I opened my eyes, I was greeted by Jabari's warm eyes and grinning face. I felt his love as he placed a soft kiss on my lips, but I became confused all over again.

"Good morning, gorgeous. I missed you last night. How did you sleep?"

"I slept okay. I missed you, too."

"That's good to hear, babe. Listen, you've been working so hard, and I know I promised to take you away, but we simply can't afford to get away right now, so I decided to give you the day off. Since you promoted me, I will take care of today's training and the meeting." Whatever haze I was in instantly left me.

"What are you talking about? What meeting?" I sat up in my bed and Jacoby took that as a sign to sit closer to me. He smelled so good and looked even better, but I don't remember calling for a meeting.

"I knew you would forget, but you've been a busy little woman. A while back, you told our partners that we would be having an important meeting today concerning their placements amongst the company and the tribe once you eradicated the BraveHearts."

As he spoke, I still didn't remember setting that meeting. When it comes to meetings and summits, I don't miss a beat. It is my job as leader of this barbaric group of savages to be on top of everything, and being female, I am expected to be soft and forgiving. My tolerance is constantly tested, and my reign has been severely questioned since my father's death, but I've long since proven how lethal I am. I have a keen mind and my attention to detail is effortless, meaning I know for a fact that I didn't call a meeting. I didn't know what Jacoby had up his sleeve, but something told me his true colors will be revealed soon.

"I have set up a relaxing day for you. I was able to convince those lazy bitches to come in here and wait on you hand and foot until I come home. It's funny, you would think seeing our Legion on top as the most feared wolf tribe in North America would be enough to bribe a broad to do anything. They'll be whining when we banish their lazy asses." As he went on and on about the female rogues, I couldn't take my mind away from this meeting he swears I called. I decided to let him further tell on himself by keeping my mouth shut and letting him do all the talking.

"I've ordered your favorite foods from your favorite restaurants and got your favorite movies set up. When I get back tonight, I will cook your dinner, rub your feet, and feast on your sweetness until the sun rises." He whispered his promise to me, then was out the door before I could say anything. I lingered in bed a while longer and decided that a day off is definitely deserving.
