Lauren screams while attempting to snatch the pillow currently beating down on her back from Lana's grasp. "OW! Stop it! Lyn, help!"
Lindsey pulls a face; the first emotion she's shown since her siblings began arguing. "You didn't help me make dinner so no." She ignores the groan that emits from Lauren's mouth in favor of continuing the Solitaire match on her cellphone.
"I'm going to kill you Lindsey Rae," Lauren grumbles, kicking at said girl's thigh.
"Okay Lauren Elizabeth," the freckled girl mocks.
Lauren chucks the nearest thing—a dog toy—at Lindsey's head. The ball on the end of the fraying material hits Lindsey's forehead with a solid thwack. Pain fizzles in her head immediately but Lindsey finds the end of her self-restraint leash and yanks, forcing a delicate "oh" out of her mouth rather than the "OW" she wanted to shout.
Lana gasps loudly, covering Lauren's muffled laughter. She clambers off her sister to grab some ice, for a bloom of red is spreading across the skin where the ball made contact.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!" Lauren chants, scrambling up and surging to Lindsey. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," the girl titters, corralling Lindsey's head to her chest. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Can we not throw that anymore? Please?"
"Yeah. Yeah. I'm sorry."
"It's okay."
