We Fight To Protect

Chapter 1

After escaping from the facility the 7 boys went on the run, they drove for 3 days straight, only stopping to get fuel using a bag of cash they had found in the back of the van. They had no idea where they were going but eventually they found a small town. They stayed in an abandoned warehouse for four months, doing their best to figure out what life was like in the outside world and finding jobs for them to do so they could save up money. On cold nights, they would all huddle together to remain warm. They lasted four month there before they were found by workers at the facility and only just managed to fight them off and get away, looking for a new town to stay in. This time they had enough money to rent out an old, small apartment. It was a tight fit but at least they had heating and a proper place to stay. They lasted 8 months in that town before they were found again, only just getting away without being caught. There were some injuries but nothing too drastic. The van broke down while they were driving but luckily Jongho managed to hotwire one from a used car yard and they got away without being caught. They stayed in the next place for 18 months, keeping on the down low and doing their best to not be found, finding good jobs and saving up a lot of money. They ended up seeing some familiar faces around town one day and decided it was best if they packed up and left without getting caught, moving on to the next place they would be staying. They had saved up enough money to rent out multiple apartments that joined on together, having more space to live together. They stayed for 16 months this time, before getting caught off guard by men from the facility. Seonghwa, Yunho and Mingi were hurt badly in the fight that ensued but they all barely managed to escape, leaving behind most of their belongings but managing to take their money with them. They hid in a large city, keeping on the down low as the injured boys healed and recovered. They didn't get jobs, only wanting a temporary stay so they could get a break, having more than enough money for it. They stayed a total of 6 months before moving on to the next town, renting out an entire house.

5 Years Later

"Where's Mingi? He should be home by now," Seonghwa said as he continued to make dinner.

"He said he was going out for a walk, he'll be back soon," Hongjoong said.

"That was an hour ago Joong, that's too long. Has anyone tried contacting him," Seonghwa asked worriedly.

"I'll message him right now, don't worry about it," Yunho said.

"If he doesn't reply in 10 minutes then take Sannie and go look for him," Seonghwa said.

"Why me? I'm busy," San grumbled, his eyes not leaving the TV.

"You're watching TV San, your brother's life is much more important. What would happen if he was taken by the facility all because you were too lazy to get off the couch? How would you fe-."

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. I'll go with Yunho if he doesn't reply," San said rolling his eyes.

"Who's this we're talking about," Jongho asked as he walked into the room, sitting down next to San on the couch.

"Mingi. He isn't back from his late night walk," Hongjoong replied.

"Oh, he'll be ok. He does this a lot Seonghwa," Jongho said.

"I know, but it's my job to be paranoid and worried, so none of you go missing suddenly," Seonghwa said. San chuckled before freezing halfway through and clutching his chest as pain shot through it. Jongho noticed and shot up off the couch, backing away quickly, gaining the attention of the others.

"San," Hongjoong said worriedly. He got up off his chair and hurried over to the couch, kneeling down beside San. He placed his hand over San's on his chest and used the other to cup his cheek softly.

"Can you open your eyes for me," Hongjoong asked gently. San slowly blinked them open and looked down at Hongjoong who frowned worriedly, seeing San's eyes a glowing, pale blue.
