"I made the first move."
A couple weeks had passed and Devenford had their first scrimmage of the season against Beacon Hills High School. So there Brett and Athena sat side by side on the bus, heading into the next town and towards Beacon Hills High.
"I can't wait to crush Liam tonight." Brett smirked as his best friend just sighed and shook her head.
"You don't have to be so cruel to him you know." The girl sighed as she looked out the window.
"I know I don't HAVE to, but it's so much fun." Brett chuckled smirking until he looked over seeing his best friend looking out the window with a far away expression. The taller boy sighed laying his head on the girls shoulder as she let out a deep breath.
"Everything will be okay AJ, you don't know that you'll even see them." Brett spoke hopefully but when seeing Athena's expression his face fell.
"Scott and Stiles play lacrosse. I'm gonna see them." The girl sighed, laying her head on top of her friends as they rode the rest of the way to Beacon Hills.
When they arrived Athena stayed inside the bus a little longer, listening to the interaction between the two boys.
"Brett!" Liam's voice could be heard by the entirety of the Devenford lacrosse team, including Athena who stood on the bus trying to build up the courage to step out.
He was breathing heavily, obviously fighting his anger off as he stared Brett down.
"I just wanted to say... Have a good game." Liam stuck his hand out to Brett who just laughed back at him.
"That's cute, Liam. Is that what they told you to say in Anger Management? Apologize and everything's fine? You demolished Coach's car." Brett stepped closer to the younger boy who's anger grew
"I paid for it." Liam spoke through his teeth looking up at Brett
"Yeah, you're going to pay for it. We're gonna break you in half out there. And it's gonna be all your fault." Brett smirked at the boy and Athena took that as her cue to come out of the bus.
"Brett, stop being a dick." Athena stared blankly at the boy as she walked down the steps of the bus, looking over at Liam who stared at her surprised.
"Hey Liam." Athena smiled at him lowly as he shook his head, trying to make sure he was seeing right.
"Thea.." Liam sighed looking at the girl with wide eyes
Before Athena could respond a familiar boy stepped in front of him as another one pulled him away, Thea just grabbed her lacrosse stick, holding it on the ground in front of her.
