Ch. 1 The Preface

It is a beautiful morning at Beach City, Delmarva, USA, on Monday, August 26, 2013. Further from the town is a lovely, majestic beach where a seventeen-year-old female named Diana Crystal Universe is standing there, admiring the scenery in front of her. Her long wavy pale pink hair swayed to the left and right as the ocean breeze happily greeted her with its soft, salty, wet kisses.

" Hey, Diana!" A feminine voice calls out, with a car's honking sound coming afterward.

Diana turns around and opens her eyes, revealing a deep pink color. A soft smile graced her pearl pink-colored lips, and she began to walk toward her childhood friends.

" Hey, Diana," A seventeen-year-old female named Jennifer 'Jenny' Pizza happily greets Diana.

" Good morning, Jenny. Bucky. Sour Cream. I hope I didn't make you guys wait that long." Diana kindly smiled at Jenny and two seventeen-year-old males named Sour Cream and Buck Dewey.

"You're cool. It's still early," Sour Cream merely responded while sitting in the driver's seat.

" Get in, Pinkie," Buck leans forward while pulling his seat back to let Diana enter.

Jenny holds her hand out to Diana, who takes it, and she carefully gets inside the car and sits down next to her friend.

" Gurl! I love your outfit! You look so rad!" Jenny widely smiled.

Diana looks down at herself. She is currently wearing a short-sleeve blacktop, which shows off her toned stomach, and a unique Pink Diamond gem where her belly button should have been. She also wears a sleeveless jean jacket over the blacktop, black jeans, and red Vans.

" My Auntie Amethyst chose this outfit for me to wear since, you know, today is our first day of Senior year. I'm glad you like it," Diana kindly smiled.

" I swear! Your Auntie needs to give me fashion tips on how to look good every day," Jenny giggled. " I am finally a Senior, yet I don't have a boyfriend! Why is that?" She whined.

Buck puts his seat back, and he turns his gaze to his two female friends.

" You're crazy, that's why," Buck teases.

" What did you say-umph!" Jenny was about to strangle Buck but fell back against her seat once Sour Cream pressed the gas pedal to start driving.

Sour Cream begins to drive away from the beach towards their next destination, Beach City High School.

Diana amusingly stared at her childhood friends. Since she was a baby, she has known Sour Cream because her father, thirty-nine-year-old Greg Universe, is close friends with Sour's mother, thirty-nine-year-old Vidalia. She then met and befriended Jenny Pizza and Buck Dewey when she started school at age five. From there, the four teens have been close friends ever since.

" Hey! So, what did you guys do during the Summer?" Jenny asked, looking curious.

Diana hummed while subconsciously rubbing her Pink Diamond belly button with her right hand.

Diana has had this unique gem on her belly button since she was a baby. She thought it was normal since she recalled her mother, aunts, and younger brother had it. However, as she got older, she noticed that her father, childhood friends, and residents of Beach City didn't have it.

" Sweetheart. Suppose someone asks you about your gem. Say it is a rare genetic condition called Diamondis Syndrome, and it is not dangerous or contagious," One of Diana's maternal Aunts named Pearl, lovingly smiled at her.
