Diana, Steven, and Greg cleaned Mayor Dewey's van in the bright afternoon sun at the car wash. Buckets of soapy water and sponges were scattered around as they scrubbed away dirt and grime. Laughter filled the air as Steven and Diana playfully splashed each other with water hoses.

"Hey, watch out!" Greg chuckled, shielding himself from a playful spray from Steven.

Diana giggled as she aimed her hose at Steven, who retaliated with a stream of water, causing more laughter. Thanks to their efforts and playful antics, the van was starting to look sparkling clean.

Just as they were about to call it a day, a cat appeared, holding a hose in its mouth. The cat sprayed water directly at Steven and Greg, soaking them both. Diana burst into laughter at the sight, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"Hey, what's going on?" Steven sputtered, wiping water from his face.

The cat suddenly transformed, revealing itself to be Amethyst. She laughed heartily, holding the hose triumphantly. "Gotcha!"

Steven grinned, shaking his head. "Amethyst, you're always full of surprises."

Steven turned to Amethyst curiously as they walked towards the Crystal Temple. "Amethyst, can I shapeshift like you? I mean, since I'm half-Gem and all."

Diana's expression turned concerned. She knew both she and Steven were unique, being half-human, and she wasn't sure if shapeshifting was something he could do. "Steven, I don't know if you can. We're different from full Gems, remember?"

Amethyst shrugged nonchalantly. "Hey, you never know until you try. Let's see what you got, Steven."

When they arrived at the Crystal Temple, Amethyst started showing off her shapeshifting powers, morphing into various animals, objects, and even Gems. Pearl, standing nearby, watched with a disapproving frown.

"Just because you can shapeshift, Amethyst doesn't mean you should," Pearl said sternly.

Steven looked at Pearl with wide eyes, Diana standing close by. "Pearl, can you shapeshift too?"

Pearl nodded. "Yes, Steven, all Gems can shapeshift. It's a part of who we are."

Before Pearl could say more, Amethyst interrupted by shapeshifting into an exaggerated version of Pearl, mimicking her voice. "Just because you can doesn't mean you should," she said mockingly.

Diana hummed thoughtfully, her curiosity piqued. "Pearl, Amethyst, is it possible for half-Gems like Steven and me to shapeshift? I mean, we're not exactly like you."

Pearl considered this for a moment, her expression softening. "It's true that you and Steven are unique, being half-Gem and half-human. The extent of your abilities might be different, but I believe it's worth exploring. You might have powers we don't even know about yet."

Amethyst nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, you two are special. Who knows what kind of cool stuff you can do!"

Steven's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I want to try! Maybe I can figure it out with some practice."

Diana smiled, feeling hope and curiosity.

Diana's phone buzzed, interrupting the lively chatter in the Crystal Temple. She glanced at the screen and saw that it was her childhood best friend, Sour Cream, calling. Smiling, she answered the call. "Hey, Sour Cream! What's up?"

"Hey, Diana! We're planning to hang out today. Buck, Jenny, and I were wondering if you'd like to join us," Sour Cream's laid-back voice came through the phone.

"Sounds fun! I'd love to," Diana replied enthusiastically.

After ending the call, she turned to Pearl, Amethyst, and Garnet, who were nearby discussing some Crystal Gem business. "I'm going out with Sour Cream, Buck, and Jenny. I'll be back later."
