Becoming Supernatural

To preface this, I hold no hatred towards those becoming supernatural or gaining abilities. I have no opinion on whether or not it is possible either - being supernatural at all almost always defies science as we know it anyways, so anything supernatural related I take with a grain of salt unless I can see real proof such as experiencing it for myself. As such, I cannot verify it as I am a born supernatural and I do not care to have extra abilities at this time. Alright, with that out of the way, I want to start this properly.

As with any life changing and likely permanent (or hard to change) alterations to yourself or your lifestyle, be extremely certain that you both will be happier with the alteration and are able to handle the alteration.

Let me tell you a story, something that I saw in my own communities just last month as of writing this. Imagine if you will, a human teenager that wants to be something else. He latches onto the idea of vampires in media - strong, capable, with many abilities. And so, he goes to many vampire communities looking for someone willing to turn him into one. After pestering many and not taking no for an answer, he finally coerces one to turn him. A few days after their chat, he wakes up with bite marks and suddenly has a thirst for blood. As time goes on, the symptoms get worse. Feeling akin to an anemic person who hasn't had iron in weeks, he seeks out the vampire communities again looking for help. He never thought to try to set up a way to get blood before asking to be turned. He didn't even think to ask what would happen if he didn't drink enough blood. Being underage and still living with his family, he cannot get a hold of the necessary equipment to feed safely. Now he has two choices. Feel sickly until he can get ahold of the equipment, or potentially kill someone to feed.

This is the sort of situation you can get yourself into when you make hasty choices without thoroughly thinking through the consequences. This is what you want to avoid. If you want to become supernatural, be sure to at least ask yourself these questions.
" Why do I want to be supernatural? Why do I want to be this supernatural in particular?"
"What are the potential consequences of being this supernatural?"
"Do I know how to survive as this supernatural?"

These questions are just the basis. For example, avians, merfolk, and kemonomimi need to figure out how they are going to survive. Will you stay in human society or will you try being wild? For being in the wild, will you need a flock? How will you provide food, water, and shelter for yourself? How will you find enrichment? What will you do in case of a medical emergency? For staying in human society, how will you hide your nonhuman traits? What will you do if someone sees? What will you do in case of emergencies such as house fires or breaking a leg? These questions differ depending on what kind of supernatural you want to become.

Remember, all actions have consequences. Being supernatural is not all fun and games. In most cases, being supernatural simply adds a new difficulty to life - take shifters for an example. What do you get as a benefit of shifting? In most cases, there is nothing you can do in your animal form that your human form cannot do. If you do find yourself in a situation where it is even safe to shift, you have to worry about natural predators, animal control, hunters (regular and cryptid), people seeing you shift, etc.

Please be safe out there, and put some serious thought and contemplation into your decisions before you make life-changing choices. Make sure you are prepared before actually acting on it. Good luck.
