One night, Octavius was pacing around in his diorama in nervousness, breaking a slight sweat on his forehead. Larry was walking around and noticed Octavius doing this, walked over, and bent down.

"Hey, Octavius, you don't look too good. You okay?" Larry asked, confused, but mostly concerned. "Oh, well, I uh-" Octavius tried to respond. "Oh, lords, how do I tell you this?" "Tell me what? what's going on?" Larry asked, even more confused and concerned. "Well, i- I've got my eye on someone, but I don't know how to show it." Octavius finally answered. "Oh, uh, that's great, man! who's the lucky girl?" Larry genuinely asked. "Well, uh... it's uh..." Octavius started to grow a blush on his face. "Hey, it's okay, you can tell me." Larry attempted to calm him down but failed. "I... It's a guy." Octavius was growing an even deeper blush. Larry was in slight shock.

"So, you're gay?" Larry asked. "Gay? What term is that?" Octavius asked. "I'm assuming that it's a sexual one?" "Bingo. It's uh, when a dude only likes, well, dudes." Larry explained. "Oh! My apologies, I did not know that. in my time, there was no such thing as 'gay'. It was perfectly normal for anyone to like anyone, so there were no terms such as that. But, if that's the term... yes, I am..." Octavius explained to Larry. "Well, in that case, who's the lucky guy?" Larry asked, slightly eager to know.

"It's..." Octavius hesitated to say it. "it's Jedediah..." he muttered. Larry was in shock. "I- uh- wow, that's kinda shocking to me! not in a bad way." Larry said. "I want to tell him how I feel, but I don't know how! I want it to be the best way possible, and I don't care if he rejects me. I know that his time didn't approve of such relationships very much at all, but I just need to tell him!" Octavius started pacing back and forth again. "Woah Woah Woah, calm down, it's fine. I think I may have an idea, but you need to be on board with it too." Larry said. "Tell me."

~Later that night, at the main desk~

"Hey, Octy! Larry told me to meet you here, What d'ya need me for?" Jedediah asked. "Hello, my friend! He told me to meet you here too. I... I think he said something about us listening to a sOng-" Octavius tried to say, but his voice cracked. "Dude, your voice just cracked, haha!" Jedediah said, teasing him slightly, Making Octavius blush. "Well, he said I should type in the song on the desk computer, but you can't see it... s-sort of like a b-blind reaction, I guess." "I'll be damn honest, that's mighty sus, but okay," Jedediah said. he closed his eyes with his hands as Octavius pushed the keyboard buttons. He pulled up the song "Stupid Games" by 'Mad Tsai' (don't ask I just feel it fits). "Are you ready, my friend?" Octavius asked nervously, ready to click the play button. "yep!" Jedediah said happily, removing his hands from his eyes. "alright..." Octavius was nervous, as he has never heard the song either, and pressed the play button. The two then sat down in front of the computer.

"(Ugh, how do I explain this?) ...I think I kinda got a crush, Don't wanna say I'm in love, 'Cause I don't know if he's into guys, Don't know if I'll ever be his type" Octavius widened his eyes and blushed, quickly looking away from Jedediah. Jedediah's eyes widened, but he didn't make a sound.

"But a boy can dream his heart away, That he'll find a boy who swings his way, Sometimes I wish that I was straight, I wouldn't have to play these stupid games, Like analyzing the way he talks, Does he watch football or watch RuPaul?" Octavius looked even farther away from Jedediah's direction, now holding his head up with his hand, leaning on his leg. "shit shit shit shit shit"  Octavius thought to himself. "Who's RuPaul?" Jedediah thought.

"What I really guess I'm trying to say is would you like to be my date? Or are you straight?" Jedediah's eyes widened bigger than 'Gigantor' himself. he immediately arched his back in awkward surprise, a blush starting to grow on his face. The rest of the song played, but the end spoiled the mood (or so Octavius thought).

"Sorry for ruining the mood, I had to ask 'cause you're so cute, I get it, you're straight Hey-ey-ey-ey" "SHIT, WHAT ON JUPITER IS STRAIGHT?!" OH JUPITER, DOES IT MEAN HE ONLY LIKES GIRLS?!"  Octavius started overthinking, while Jedediah was so in shock, he could barely keep himself together. he then finally calmed down enough to respond. "I..." Jed took the tip of his hat to refrain from eye contact, "I'm not straight." He finished, a blushing mess. Octavius looked in Jed's direction. "Wait... you aren't?" Octavius asked, removing his hand from his blushing wreck of a face.

"no, I'm not..." Jed said. "I was scared to tell ya' 'bout all this 'cause I thought it would change our friendship for the worse. I..." he started muttering to himself for a second. "we've spent almost our entire lives fightin' each other, but I would prefer we spent the rest of it lovin' each other..." at this point his hat was covering his entire face. Octavius's heartbeat started getting faster and faster from this response. "You- You agree?? I- I thought cowboys didn't like what I believe is called 'gays', am I wrong?" Octavius asked, confused yet flustered. "Well, just because the majority of us do, doesn't mean that all of us do. you see this red scarf I wear?" Jed points at his scarf. "Yes, why?" Octavius asked. "Well, believe it or not, wearing it was a way of showing yer' queer without actually outing yourself to others in my time." Jedediah chuckled "So... since the feeling's pretty mutual... would you like ta' be my pardner?" Jedediah asked, putting his hand out. "I would love that, my Liege," Octavius said, taking Jed's hand. Jed seemed extremely happy the whole way back to their dioramas, it looked like he could scream in excitement.

They both got up and headed to their dioramas to see Larry getting everything ready for the daytime. "Hey, boys! how are ya?" Larry asked. "WE'RE TOGETHER! YEEE-HAW!!!" Jed let loose. "Wow, that worked! congrats, you guys!" Larry congratulated them. "Thank you, my friend! we will be heading to our areas now, as it is almost sunri-" Octavius froze, and so did Jed. Larry looked out a window, and sure enough, it was sunrise already.

This was gonna be a tricky thing to explain to McPhee...
