I woke up surrounded by flowers and my favorite candy. There was a candle light nearby and relaxing music playing in the background. I sat up in the bed as Riley came back in the room.

"Good morning, gorgeous." He said through a smile.

I giggled to myself, gestured around me while I asked him,

"What is all this for? Is it an anniversary already?" I laughed.

He laughed as he sat next to me on the bed.

"Well, after last night I just wanted to start our day a little brighter than how it ended.."

"You're sweet. I really appreciate this, but we still have more to discuss."

He sighed and looked at me with gentle eyes.

"Of course, but we are having breakfast first. I made your favorites!" He hopped off the bed with a smile as big as his heart.

I couldn't help, but smile and feel such adoration for him. I follow him into the kitchen and to my surprise there is an entire spread of breakfast food displayed buffet-style. There were heart-shaped pancakes, omelets, toast, and my ultimate favorite - turkey bacon. Its the one memory I can track all the way to my childhood. The breakfast nook was decorated with more candles and roses and champagne glasses, although they seemed to just be filled with orange juice.

"This is amazing. I can't believe you went through all this trouble for me." I could feel my face get hot from blushing.

"If only you knew, love. I would literally do anything to see you smile. Plus, this is the first time in a long time you and I have been alone in an actual home together." He chuckled.

We sat down and enjoyed breakfast in a comforting silence, but I couldn't relax enough for more small talk. Once finished, we got all cleaned up and headed back to the bedroom. There I climbed into the bed and piled all the candy in between Riley and I. Once settled, I glanced up at him and motioned for him to come sit.

He took my hand in his as he climbed on and looked over,

"Where would you like to begin?"

I paused, trying to piece together words that would describe what I want to know.

"What can I say, everything? I wanna know who the hell these people you keep referring to are. I wanna know why my father thinks he could just pop in and out of our lives. I don't know where the beginning is, but I want it all."

He took a deep breath.

"Well, the people we are on the run from own a company that produces a serum that can erase human memories." he paused and looked up at my shocked expression before continuing, " We had visited before a couple years ago in response to an invite from your dad. Clearly when he wasn't there and we saw what they were doing you were upset and threatened to go to the FDA which was when they began stalking us I believe."

"Stalking us? What do you mean? How would you know?"

"I noticed they were tracking your phone and I will admit I can only assume they did it they day we visited."

"So what, when my mom called they just picked up on my location?" He nodded. "What the hell, so what do they want with me, with us?"

"They want to permanently remove our memories and make us forget what we discovered when we were there."

I was shocked, I knew I hadn't seen him but there was no way my dad would let this happen, or do I really not matter to him.

"There is no way my dad would let his company basically hunt me down with his permission. I cant believe that, as vile as he could be I am still his blood."

Tears were running down my face before I could stop them. My own father forever ruined my life and is still actively trying to ruin it.

I forgot how to breath.
