POUND POUND POUND
Hard knocking was heard from the front door.
"I'm coming! I'm coming! Jesus Christ.." The mother called as she felt her way to the door and opened it.
Standing there was a young woman, maybe in her twenties. She seemed visibly frazzled and appeared to be out of breath.
"...I don't want to hear about any religion or other bullshit like that, so you can go-"
"I'm not here for that." The lady interrupted.
"Then what the hell do you want?"
"I'm Lisa, the social worker..i talked to your husband on the phone a while ago about the girl you recently started fostering."
"And? What's wrong?"
"That girl is not Lilith."
"..." The mother seemed to freeze for a second, taking in this information, "what the hell do you mean?"
The lady fished something out of her bag, holding it up.
Upon seeing it, the mother's face dropped, loosing all color as she leaned against the wall.
Meanwhile, just a short ways away from the house, Precious and Poka were playing in the nearby forest.
"Can I pick the game now?" Precious asked, taking a second her fix her hair.
"Sure! What do you wanna play?" Poka leaned against a tree, fiddling with her sight cane.
"It's a game called "The Fox and the Hen"! It's kinda like tag, but there are different rules!"
Poka seemed intrigued by this game.
"Sure! Let's play that!"
Precious grinned, excited to play.
"I'll be the fox first, and you'll be the hen. Let's say that tree your leaning on is the hen house!"
"Maybe I should mark it or something so I dont miss it." Poka said, turning around and feeling the rough bark against her fingers.
She then gently peeled off a few pieces, making the shape of an H.
"There! 'H' for Henhouse!"
"Very good!" Precious said.
"Now what?"
"Now, you gotta run away as fast as you can so the fox doesnt catch you! After a while, once it's safe, you can try to come back and touch the 'henhouse' without me catching you!"
"Ohhh! Ok!" Poka said, preparing herself to run.
"Ready?'
"Yes!"
"alright, little hen! Start running!"
With that, The little blind girl began to sprint away deep into the dense woods. Precious, however, stayed there for a second. Once Poka disappeared from sight, she turned around and began to walk back to the house. She had other matters to attend to, after all.
She finally reached the house, seeing the strange car in the driveway.
Great. She had to deal with this, too.
She walked up the steps and through the already opened door, being spotted by the mother.
"YOU!" She pointed accusingly at Precious, "WHO ARE YOU?!"
"That's none of your concern anymore, momma." Precious smirked as she approached the woman, who jerked away from her.
"STAY BACK!"
