Y/N POV
The 48 hours Hailee and I had to spend together in our own little bubble at home went by faster than either of us were prepared for.
It seems like only moments ago I was turning my phone off and leaving it on the counter. Meanwhile we're now waiting for Griffin to show up so we can head to the airport.
Hailee is sitting on the couch scrolling through something on her phone quietly. Wanting to be close to her and keep our bubble in tact for as long as I can, I don't hesitate to walk over to her and take a seat on the couch with her, laying back so my head lands directly in her lap. She smiles down at me as her hand immediately find perch against my scalp, scratching softly.
"To what do I owe this pleasure my love?" Hailee asks softly, tossing her phone elsewhere on the couch to give me her undivided attention. "Do we have to go? I really just want to stay here with you. I'm not ready for our bubble to pop yet." I admit honestly.
Hailee continues to smile down at me understandingly. "As much as I'd love that too, Griffin is over the moon excited for this weekend. When I talked to him last night he wouldn't shut up about how much fun it's gonna be having his two favorite things all weekend...cars and us." She says, imitating his deep voice, making both of us laugh at her failed impression.
"I'm sure it's in that exact order too!" I say through my laughter. Hailee nods her head energetically. "I'm pretty sure it's actually you, then cars, then me." She laughs.
"Oh come on! Griffin doesn't like me more than you! It's a toss up about if he likes cars more than us though." I say, keeping the mood light.
Hailee composes herself a bit more before speaking. "You're his favorite. It's no secret and I don't mind. You're my favorite too. He's got good taste." She says seriously.
Before our conversation can continue much further, Griffin arrives. "Who's ready for Miami?!" He yells as he comes waltzing through the front door like this is his own house. Hailee and I both roll our eyes at his antics before standing to greet him.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I say. "And I'm just happy to be joining you guys on an adventure for once." Hailee adds. Griffin and I look at each other and laugh. "What? The way I see it, at least I'll already be there this time when one of you inevitably needs saving." She says.
"Aw Haiz, don't think like that! No one's gonna need saving. Everything is gonna be awesome! I promise." Griffin says as he grabs both of our suitcases and we head out to his truck.
On the way to the airport, Griffin gives us the rundown of how he expects the weekend to go. From the sound of it, we'll be very busy with very little down time.
"Sounds like a big event with lots of big names. Should I be nervous?" I ask, only half joking. I honestly had no idea F1 was such a big thing but here we are.
Griffin eyes me from his rearview mirror while Hailee turns around in the passenger seat to glare at me as well. "Do I need to remind you who you are and what you do for a living?" Griffin says. "Don't even pretend like you aren't one of those big names." Hailee adds.
Well damn. I feel attacked.
I throw my hands up in surrender. "Alright, alright. Chill." I laugh off. "Regardless to who I am, this weekend I think I'm just gonna be Griffin's sister." I say. Hailee smiles and nods her head approvingly.
"Are you used to flying first class yet?" Hailee asks playfully when we finally board our flight and take our seats. I shoot an annoyed glare at her. "I still think it's extra." I deadpan.
Hailee throws her head back and laughs. "We have a house in LA, and apartment in New York, and we're gonna have one or the other in Atlanta soon. But sure babe, flying first class is extra. Whatever you say." She says. I hate that she has a fair point there.
