After the wounded left, the siblings stuck around in the rocky tomb. They waited for the ice cubes to melt enough so that London could stock-pile water in their veins. They would need all the rest they could get, now that what was ahead was showing to be an intense battle.
"You waited a long time before taking Serenity out of her misery," Jackson noted, sitting with London as he covered the being in more snow. "What were you saying to her?"
"What I wanted to say was that I'm sorry. It's not fair to her to be in this mess."
"Harmony was the remorseful one though. She seemed like she just didn't want to disappoint Astaroth." Kolton noted, his arms crossed.
"All I know is that in my heart, I think she'd rather be doing other shit than fighting us. I know I would." Sabrina stated. "You could make a lot of money guessing people's weights at a fair with a power like that."
"Yeah, that's the dream career with a power like that." London mocked, watching as their vines began to sprout and blossom. "I'm ready to go when you all are."
"Like we're actually ready," Jackson shook his head. "It's just what we have to do."
These four have been dreading this fight since they knew it existed. To fight a great being such as Astaroth, the actual ruler of this version of hell- in order to save the population, and rescue their parents. For the Aldinonians, a race long forgotten and unmentioned by name.
When the siblings finally reconstructed an exit from the dome, they found a hell they did not recognize. The temperature wasn't nearly as killer, nor was the screaming and moaning as loud as it was before. It seemed like the rampant souls that were causing trouble seemed to have made great distance, because all of the previous guards were gone. They either chased their prisoners into the depths, or were hiding and lurking in the shadows, waiting for a higher power to re-contain the lost lives.
"So... what do we do after this?" Jackson broke the comfortable silence with his arms crossed. "I don't think things can just go back to normal."
Sabrina almost laughed, a smile creeping onto her face. "Were things really ever normal for us?" She questioned back. "Even our childhoods weren't exactly 'average' or anything." She continued, shaking her head. "Do you guys want to stay back in... what would you call it, Aldinon?"
"Depending on how many people were permanently lost down here, they'll need some serious help regaining control. A reappointed government, rebuilding destroyed homes...is that really something we want to take on?" Kolton asked, debating the choice himself.
"I'm 22 years old. The only thing I want to "take on" is college debt and hangovers." She complained.
"Aldinon is strong, it'll bounce back okay." London piped in. "It was named after Aldine, a powerful family from centuries ago. They were the first group to be given dimensional power from the soon-to-be named Dimension Lord."
"So that's where we all came from?" Jackson asked, a little surprised. "Do we know what powers they had?"
"There were some theories and rumors, but no one documented anything. We just knew they were scared of humans and hid themselves away, creating a place no other being could reach. I guess if we really wanted to know, we could ask DL himself." London finished.
"You're going to run the other human dictionary for his money." Kolton smirked, knowing neither, now, were human. "Seriously, though. It really is nice to get to know the truth behind all of this, London. Thank you."
"It's the least I can do." They grinned, looking at the ground as they stretched their hands, regaining control now that the water has fully done it's job.
