"We're... siblings?" Sabrina asked, holding her head as Aspen helped her stand up. "That can't be right. I don't..."
There weren't enough synonyms to describe the feeling Sabrina felt. Her entire life had been a black, fuzzy void of disembodied memories. All she could hone in on was one day, she appeared in that foster facility. Waiting patiently. No one wanted a kid over 5, so Sabrina sat in wait. She waited years and years until she got old enough to leave the foster facilities. She didn't have a family- but those voices. Something about them was familiar.
"Sabrina, you climbed the wall and it erased your memory. We've been trying to contact you for years, but-"
"Kolton, you're going too fast," Aspen said, putting a hand on his shoulder to try and slow him down. "Start from the beginning."
"Right." Kolton paused, taking a deep breath.
"When we were young- like, really young- our parents worked for an agency. Our parents had skills that not many people had. Powers that they could control. They worked for a group of people who all had skills just like them- a council. To keep the group going, the council people had kids. That includes us. And this group was successful for years- but people wanted in on these skills. These... assets. People who weren't part of this council were willing to do what they had to to take over. They tracked down our parents, and kidnapped them, hoping to take their powers and use them for super weapons."
"Pause. Powers?" Sabrina asked, bewildered as she fought to memorize and process the information. The four stood around a kitchen island as Kolton fought to verbalize his heritage and a decade-long war.
"I'm getting to that. Before they took our parents from us, they transferred their powers to someone else. Someone they knew would be able to protect them."
"That's you, Sabrina," Noah stated. "We were all born with what people here call superpowers. But because of your parents, you have three of them- most likely locked away because you lost your memory. You've been posing as a human this entire time, but now you have to unlock them again." He said as Sabrina just gave him a confused look. "We need you to unlock them and end this war."
"What drugs are you guys on that you think I'm gonna believe this?" Sabrina laughed in disbelief. "You guys really into cosplaying Marvel OC's or something? You got me! I get it-"
"The powers we have aren't "normal superpowers", Bri. This is stuff we can't fake." Aspen stated. "If you can just let us try and... prove it to you."
"You have one shot," Sabrina laughed, crossing her arms as Aspen nodded.
"I'll do it then. My power is... well, most of ours are kind of embarrassing. Maybe I can just... uh... show you without saying it." She shrugged, holding out her hands. Suddenly, two cannons of glitter shot out from her hands, multi-colored and shiny. It covered the ground, the table, and the three innocent bystanders.
"This stuff never comes out." Noah sighed, dusting off his arms as Sabrina held out her hands, looking at the glitter.
"How did you... do that?" Sabrina asked. "Hidden in your sleeves? Cool magic trick-"
"I can create glitter out of thin air. Make stuff out of glitter. See-" She paused, holding out her hand to the side as glitter began to appear, building into a rounded shape. A few more seconds later, a bow entirely made of a dark purple glitter was in her hand. On her back, a sleeve of glittery arrows. She grabbed one from the holster, and shot the arrow at the ground, watching it stab into the wooden flooring of the apartment.
Sabrina reached down, pulling the arrow out of the ground. She held it, examining it. "Oh god. I'm drugged." Sabrina diagnosed, dropping the arrow in shock as Noah sighed, looking at the ground.
