The lawn was freshly mowed and birds were loudly chirping. Tire against gravel could be heard as you pulled into the driveway of the heelshire home. The house was purely beautiful, respectfully built for only three. Though you had no right to be the judge of the fact, seeing as you never got to experience a true home with a happy family. Growing up in an orphanage was hard enough, growing up with as disgusting and hideous due to scars was harder. No parents wanted a broken child and it stayed that way until the ripe age of 18, when they finally kicked you out of the once familiar building.
You had nowhere to go, no clues on how to survive on your own, let alone homeless. It took months but you eventually came across a old looking magazine on the pavement of the road. A job for a nanny. Now you were definitely no nanny and experience was a foreign thing but you just couldn't let this opportunity slip by. You were currently grateful you didn't let it go. You took spare change and called the number, resulting in a friendly conversation with a lovely old lady. She understood your predicament and gladly sent a car out to pick you up. Even the chauffeur was friendly to you, it was so unusual for a ugly girl like yourself to be treated so..equal.
You stepped out of the vehicle once it came to a halt. Gazing across the lawn and the house itself, it all dazed you into a fit of awe. How lovely.
"Let me walk you in miss" The man offered his arm and gave a warm smile. You returned the gesture and looped your arm with his. You allowed the man to walk you to the door and, nervously, you let your presence be known.
-Knock-
-Knock-
-Knock-
You both waited no more than a second before the wooden barrier came flying open. The old lady standing before you appeared so excited it radiated around her, until she saw you. She visibly froze and stared at the scar running up your neck to your cheek. You didn't even remember how you got it (though the benefactors back at the orphanage claimed it had to do with the fire that tore away your parents) it's times like this when you hated it the most. You expected her to turn away and dismiss you, as all before her had done, yet she only gives another excited smile and gently grabs your hand. She pulls you into the home and exchanges a some words with the man you had left standing alone, though your mind was far from thinking about that.
This place was huge! And so very beautiful. You stared in awe at all the shiny yet old things lacing the walls. Even the furniture earned some gawks and admiring. Quickly you took ahold of yourself when you saw an old man coming down the stairs. He was obviously more chill than his, who you presumed to be, wife. However the look of shock was still evident on his face as he saw you. You let out a sigh and gave a smile at him. You wish they were shocked by your beauty and not your prominent scar. He approached you and held out an awaiting hand.
"I'm Mr. Heelshire, you must be y/n, the new nanny" You gently grasped his hand and he gave a firm shake.
"Yes sir that would be me" New nanny huh? Wonder what happened to the old one.
"I see you've met y/n!" Mrs. Heelshire exclaims as she comes back from her earlier conversation. You awkwardly smile between the two, wanting more than nothing just to meet the kid and get on with the job. Social interaction was never really your thing. Growing up and grown ups ruined that for you.
"Yes, I have, and she seems lovely" He compliments. You shyly smile and give an appreciative nod his way.
"Ah I'm glad you agree, now come along dear we are excited for you to meet Brahms" Right, Brahms was his name, wonderful she reminded you before you actually met the kid. How horrible would that be? To forget the name of the boy your babysitting right in front of the parents faces. You felt awkward thinking about it.
