A/N-from here on out the Pov will be first person/switching.
I awoke with my head pounding and in darkness, I groaned as I attempted to sit up. My head felt almost feverish, like when you fall asleep all day after a cold, and wake up disoriented. Despite all the pain in my body I eventually forced my eyes open, there was a faint blue glow around me. I blinked a few more times as panic washed over me. Had I gone blind? No, I could still see my hands in front of me; I could see but the room was very dark. I wracked my brain trying to think of what had happened to me. Traveling, unpacking, the net. Oh God the net, what happened after though? Why couldn't I remember anything after that, I definitely wasn't still stuck in the net. Though the same faint blue glow the net had was still present.
I blindly felt around and touched a smooth glass like surface, it seemed to be below me as well. Starting to stand up I was quickly stopped by the same smooth glass wall slamming into my head. "FUCK" I hissed in pain as I held my head before putting my right hand up to feel the barrier. The glass was all around me. The box couldn't have been taller than my height (when on my knees at least.) My breathing sped up as I tried to understand where I was. Someone must have gotten me out of the net 'if I wasn't stuck anymore, but why was I still trapped somewhere? Could I have been kidnapped, oh God.' As much as I didn't want that to be the case, the little clues I had were pointing to that being the truth. Especially the fact that the strange prison Shared the same dim blue glow as the netting from before. This was supposed to be my fresh start. I just want to go home, even if it was still new to me it's a hell lot more familiar then wherever I was now.
Though I was in my thoughts I could hear noises, I focused back into reality to listen closer but wasn't able to decipher what I was hearing at first. There was small sounds of shuffling, Tapping, and… chirps? None of the sounds seemed to come from the same source. Some came from above and others straight ahead. I pursed my lips in confusion as I started to feel overwhelmed. Trying to focus on one noise at a time. 'What sick person sets out traps like what I was caught in? It had to have been on purpose, you don't need a fancy electric net to just catch small forest wildlife.' The netting was strong enough that it could have contained things much bigger than me. Whoever did this obviously had practice in their craft, and what was happening wasn't an accident by any means. With a huff I slammed my arm into the barrier hoping to crack it or find a weak spot, but all the hit did was disrupt whatever had been making the noises above me. More chirp-like sounds could be heard above as I frowned in confusion. "HEY, who's out there?" I yelled out trying keep my voice steady hoping my captor was within ear shot. I started to regret shouting, what if I get killed faster for making noise, I should focus on finding a way out, if there was a way out that is.
Besides, my angry yelling was only met with silence besides the noises that were already present. It felt like hours had passed before anything happened and my throat was sore from yelling profanities and trying to find a way out for what felt like forever. I sighed feeling an overwhelming helplessness, I wasn't weak by any means but I couldn't do anything at the moment to help myself. What kind of sick person had taken me and what did they want? It was completely possible it could just be a psychopath or murder and I had no chance of escape. I shook my head not wanting to think about the worst possible outcome, there was a good possibility I would get my chance to escape and everything would be fine. My thoughts were interrupted as a bright white light flooded the room, temporarily blinding me. A mechanical door opening sound rang in my ears as I tried to get the overpowering light out of my eyes. I wanted light but this was a little much. Especially after being in the dark for hours, possibly a whole day.
As my eyes cleared my whole body stopped at what I saw, there were dozens of other clear boxes like mine filled with different animals in them around the room, but the most concerning thing wasn't the animals. It was the creature that came in to turn on the light. It had to stand at least 9 feet tall with a body covered in tentacles almost making it look like a dog with long hair, but the tentacles looked almost leathery and rough as opposed to an octopus or other creatures with tentacles that I could think of. There wasn't much I could compare it to other than a monster from a movie or show. I tried to breathe but my body wasn't letting me, everything felt heavy. I wasn't able to move until I saw the creature start walking to the other side of the room, I slammed my body backward hitting the glass again Hyperventilating. I told myself that this wasn't real and it had to be a nightmare, but something was telling me I knew I was wrong and just couldn't accept what I was seeing. The pain in my body felt real, I could even still feel where I had dropped the box on my toe just hours earlier. Nightmares aren't this real and I knew it, but I still chose to shut my eyes as tight as I could until the room was silent.
