Chapter 6 - Nari Stä'nì

Rose

I barely notice as the weeks go by, my days spent having lessons with Jake and my nights spent teaching my friends about the things that I've learned.

Over the course of the few months I've been staying with the Omaticaya people, I have also made a few other friends. Neytiri and Tsu'tey and I are acquaintances, and I have a few fellow tuté friends.

One evening I'm sitting around the dinner fire with some of my new friends Ninat and Ozue, talking to them while Ozue braids my hair and adds beads and feathers when I suddenly feel like something is watching me. While Ninat continues telling me about one of the new songs she's been learning, I quietly ask Ozue to stop for a moment then look around slowly, careful not to disturb the braids Ozue had already finished in my hair. I catch sight of Jake Sully sitting over near the Olo'eyktan and Tsahìk like he always does, but as my eyes catch his I watch him turn his head away from me quickly, focusing on the food in his hands, ear twitching slightly on the side of his head that's facing me.

I watch him for a few moments, a bit confused by the slightly darker shade of blue that's started to show on his cheeks. When he doesn't look at me again I just go back to looking at Ninat and letting Ozue return to braiding my hair, Ninat occasionally feeding Ozue pieces of meat from her leaf bowl while I eat my own.

Jake

I wait for a bit before looking back over to Rose again, smiling softly as she laughs at something Ninat said. Suddenly I hear Norm say something from next to me and turn to see him laughing when I say "Huh?" Shortly after the war and after the rest of the humans were sent back to Earth, Norm joined me in becoming one of the people completely, meaning he did the same thing I did and permanently transferred to his Avatar body. Since he refused to become a warrior and join the patrols with me, he was instead assigned to gathering fruits and hunting for food for the people.

My tail twitched in annoyance and my ears went back as he laughed at me, though as I waited for him to calm down my gaze subconsciously went back to Rose's form, watching as she picks up one of the hair-beads she made earlier that day and hands it to Ozue to put in the braid she was making. Norm suddenly nudged my shoulder with his own, my tail coming up and smacking him on the back, annoyed that he's bugging me right now as I look at him with a slight glare, "Skxawng, what do you want?" I mutter, trying to keep the conversation quiet so we don't bother the others sitting around us. "You're the skxawng here, but anyways you're being so obvious man, I don't know how the hell she hasn't found out yet. I am glad you've finally found a woman that interests you though." He replies back with a cheeky grin as I hiss quietly at him, a dark blush settling over my face as I bring up a finger and flick him in the forehead.

I chuckle quietly when he yells and rubs at the sore spot on his forehead, watching him do so with a big grin on my face before looking back over to Rose to see her standing up and heading over, gracefully maneuvering through the Na'vi sitting around the fire as she makes her way over to me. Once she reaches me she smiles and turns to face Tsu'tey and Neytiri, doing the respectful 'I see you' hand movement towards them both before nudging at Norm with a quiet playful whine until he jokingly scoffs and slides over a bit so she has room to sit between us.
