marie antoinette's regency

i've been hungry all my life
didn't get your leftover crumbs,
not even a single bite
love poured down on you
sweet and red like cherry cola
it only left me dry as i got older

every child got its basket of cake and wine
on my way to grandma wolf
i somehow lost mine
so she swallowed me up,
stuffed me inside
it was a pretty disgusting way to die

when all bread was gone
you told me to eat cake
a joke gone wrong?
a silly mistake?
don't you know, i've got no flour
to make the base?

give me more,
give me more!
pull me up
from the floor

for all these years of famine
i have to make up on my own
no one to raise my chin,
no one to call me home

this feast that i crave
shall be heavenly made
how come no one's around
to give it to me?
love is free
they said
but coldness was stuck in their head
