The mouth of the cave revealed turkeys running back and forth, busying themselves with their respective jobs and tasks. Jenny quietly sobbed, trying her best not to draw anymore attention to them. Reggie held her close, making sure she felt safe in his arms, as safe as she could feel in that moment.

"What happened Reggie? Why is she crying?" Ranger noticed them as soon as they stepped foot in the cave, his intimidating demeanor softening at the sight of his sister's pained face.

"Everyone.. *sniff* Everyone at the feeding grounds..*sniff* they.. all just.. they stared at me.. they all just..*sniff* treated me like dirt..." Jenny managed to squeak out an explanation between sniffs, going back into her quiet sobs as soon as she was finished, her lazy eye unfocused.

"I will go teach them a lesso-"

"No Ranger, that's the opposite of what Jen needs. Please just let her rest." Reggie protested.

"Oh, okay Reggie. I trust you." Ranger looked shocked, but quickly understood that Reggie knew his sister best. Reggie led Jenny to their quiet, secluded corner of the cave, placing her on their bed.

"Reggie? Can, um, can I ask you a question?" Jenny wiped her tears, her voice nothing but a pained whisper.

"Of course ask me anything." Reggie's eyes filled with curiosity and worry. What could Jenny possibly want to ask?

"Do you ever wish you didn't stay with me? Well-what I mean is, do you miss the future?" Reggie's eyes widened, that was the last question he expected her to ask.

"Do I regret being with you? Absolutely not. Do I miss the future? Well..yeah, I suppose so." Reggie's face became warm at the thought of Jake.

"Would you want to go back? To the future I mean." Jenny met Reggie's eyes, desperately searching for a clear answer.

"Well, yeah..I mean, only if you want to..." Reggie was clearly far more passionate about going to the future then he was letting on.

"I think I want to go to the future, we could see Jake again and I will hopefully receive better treatment than I receive here, and-" Jenny tried her best to explain her reasoning, but was cut off by Reggie suddenly hugging her.

"Yes, Jen, we should go to the future! Yes, yes yes yes yesyesyes!!" Reggie hugged her even tighter, Jenny returning the hug reluctantly. They briefly kissed, then entered a long and complex conversation about the future, Reggie answering all of Jenny's questions. The sun began to set as they chatted, and their eyelids grew heavy. They lied their heads next to one another, cuddling comfortably together.

They were going to the future.
