(Kris' POV)
"What ho, brave adventurers! Welcome to this wild land!" a voice said.
"FUCK NO NOT AGAIN!!" Y/n looked up.
"I am Aelsir, Dark Prince of the Rainbow Jungle! A prince without subjects, but not without ambitions!" he introduced. "You serious?? ANOTHER one? Are we just gonna collect the whole damn set?!" Susie exclaimed. "Gotta catch them all??" I chuckled. "Oh wow, pumpkin spice is my favorite toothpaste flavor!" Lancer grinned.
Pumpkin Spi- I mean Aelsir jumped down from the tree and placed his hands on his hips. "I've never seen your likes in this land before!" he smiled. "Except for you, green-me!" he leaned in closer to Ralsei. "Actually, I'm called Ralsei. And we're looking for other friends of ours. Maybe you've seen other new people here?" Ralsei said. "Can't say for sure that I have! But fear not! We shall brave this wilderness, and find your missing comrades!" Aeslir exclaimed.
"Is there a fountain of darkness here?" I asked. "Of course there is! The fountain is what gives this land form!" he replied. "Then we need to find that, too," I stated. "A search for missing comrades, and a journey to an important landmark... the makings of a TRUE ADVENTURE!" he wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Heheh, yeah you really think so!?" Y/n said passive aggressively, taking Aeslir's arm off me and replacing it with theirs. "I'm so glad you don't have an issue with us being here... especially Kris and Y/n!" Ralsei smiled. "Of course not! They both are obviously part of the Heroes of Light, destined to discover new places and new people!" he squeezed us both. Ralsei joined my side and squeezed us further.
"Yes! And to save the world from destruction!" he added. "RALSEI,-" Y/n squealed out of breath. "Just look at how good-looking they both are!" Aeslir gushed. "SUSIE. HELP. US,-" I reached their hand out. "WHO'S- GONNA TELL THEM WE'RE- TOGETHER-" Y/n wheezed through short breaths. "And so smart and witty too!" "And insightful!" they both continued. "Wait... I'm witty, you're smart, right?" Y/n asked. "...No... I'm witty and smart, you're insightful," I replied. "YOU CANT HAVE BOTH!!" they folded their arms. "Say it isn't true. Say that I'm not witty, or smart, or good-looking," I put my hands on my hips. "You are. But say I'm not those things either!" they tilted their head to the side. "Fine.. you're right," I sighed, ruffling their hair. "HEYYY!!" they ran up to me.
We ventured through the jungle, getting into battles with some socks, a stuffed tiger, some kazoos, and sticky hands. We finally made it to an area with a save.
"Let's stop here and rest here for a bit," I suggested, exhausted from all the battles. We all sighed and slumped down onto the ground. Aeslir was still filled with energy though. "Goodness, this is certainly an expansive place," Ralsei adjusted his hat. "Indeed! A person could spend weeks exploring this wilderness!" Aeslir said enthusiastically. "WEEKS?!" Ralsei jumped. I noticed Y/n had inched their hand closer to mine. "Aw, do you want me to hold your hand?" I blushed. "M-mhm.." they hummed. I held it tightly when Lancer swiftly turned around from a log. "Hey, Susie, look! I found a weird bug! You wanna eat it?" Susie immediately perked up and ran over to him. "Hell yeah!" she grinned, throwing the bug into her mouth. "Egh..." Y/m grimaced at the crunch before Susie groaned. "UUGHH, IT JUST TASTES LIKE SOCKS!!" she spat it out.
"So... how soon until we arrive at the fountain? Or, someplace our friends are likely to be?" Ralsei asked. "Not sure," Aeslir said bluntly, hopping off a rock. I could tell I wasn't the only one getting that sinking feeling because it got oddly quiet before Susie walked back to us. "Wait, you're NOT SURE?!" she exclaimed. "Susie, relax," Y/n frowned. "Haven't you been to the fountain before?" I asked. "Oh, no... I think it's over on Claw Mountain, but I've never been there myself. Just been too busy mapping out this jungle!" he explained. "Then we need to go THAT way and not just wander in circles!" Ralsei said, getting up with the rest of us. "Why? Are... you all not having fun?" Aeslir asked. "I mean, it has been fun, but–" "NOT THE SOCKS PART!!" Susie interrupted Ralsei. "But we've got a goal to accomplish. At least... the Lightners here have other things to do out in their world. We don't have time to just explore," Ralsei calmly explained. "Really? Gosh... that's so different from the Lightners the people here remember. Those Lightners had nothing but time to explore. No goals or anything," Aeslir said softly. "Yeah, it sucks not being a kid," Susie said. "Well... look at it this way! Now YOU'RE getting to see something entirely new, too!" Ralsei smiled. "You know... you're absolutely right! I suppose it's only fitting that new people show take me to entirely new places!" Aeslir leaded us down some rocks.
We made our way to what I assume was Claw Mountain. The way across was blocked by lightning covered hills. "Oh god.." Y/n whispered. "And I've always wanted to actually see what's past the Deadly Thunder Hills!" Aeslir exclaimed.
I could hear Y/n fretting behind me about us getting struck by lightning since them, Susie, and I are all wearing metal. Our soul appeared midway through before we started dashing through. We got struck once and stunned for a bit before getting hit a second time. "GAH, FUCK..!" Susie grunted through her teeth. "JUST KEEP GOING, WE'RE ALMOST THERE!" I slurred. We kept running before getting hit a third time. "Kris? What the hell, are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Y/n pulled me back. "NOT JUST THEMSELVES, ALL OF US!! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO NOT WALK INTO THE ELECTRICITY!!" Susie screamed. "Why won't.. you stop..." I sobbed. "Kris...? No, you know what?" Y/n stepped up. "Relax, I'll get us through this," they said, cradling my face. They took charge, leading us through the rest of the lightning, just getting struck twice before making it to the end. We crashed against the other side, hearing the sizzle from our bodies as we laid there in silence.
"That was a hard puzzle, wasn't it?" Lancer groaned. "One of you guys... BETTER... have some food that heals people..." Susie groaned. "Ugh.. I do... say please next time..." Y/n sighed.
"Oh oh woof, looks like you're in need of healing, aren't you?" I heard a cheeky voice say as we got up. I noticed a stuffed dog had set up a shop tent. "Oh oh, you certainly do! I can't recall the last time I've seen anyone try to cross the Thunder Hills," he continued. "Ah, thats fine, my lover Y/n here has healing items for us anyways," I explained.
"LOVER?!?"
"Ah, right... didn't tell you guys..." I chuckled. "YOU AND Y/N ARE DATING AND YOU DIDNT THINK TO TELL US?!" Susie exclaimed. "Sorry, it just kinda slipped my mind.." I shrugged. "Well, I'm happy for you two," Ralsei rested his hand on my shoulder. "DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T TASTE LIKE SOCKS?!" Susie ran over to the shopkeeper. "Perhaps you'd like a slice of Darkpizza? Maybe two?" he said. She looked at Lancer before deciding to beg Y/n for some money to buy some.
"Say... this shop kinda reminds me of one back home!" Ralsei pointed out. "Yeah... it is oddly familiar isn't it?" Y/n tilted their head slightly. "Seam..." I said quietly. "It was run by a friend of ours that we're looking for. Have you seen them? They're–" "Oh oh, do you mean Seam?" the shopkeep predicted. "Yes, that's them! Are they here?" Ralsei asked frantically. "The old codger! Name's Putton by the way. Come back to this land after having vanished so many ages ago! What a surprise it was for us all! They're taken to their old stomping grounds just inside the mountain," Putton pointed. "Thank you so much!" Ralsei said. "Thank you!!" Y/n said, handing a fat stack of Dark Dollars to him, with a shit ton of food in their hands. "What? What if we get into a battle and need some more healing items? Don't wanna die!!" they said stuffing all the shit in their pocket.
"And you've already found your missing friend? How exciting! Real goals ARE adventure!" Aeslir exclaimed. Susie chugged a can of soda and threw it behind her.
"Then let's get going!"
