During the weekend Alice and I went shopping, I got clothes and art stuff and she practically bought the rest of the stores. Bella went to La Push beach with her friends, then hid in her room that night. I woke up to Bella "Em it's warm!" I groggily opened my eyes and said "What?" she said, "The sun, it's shining." I quickly joined her at my window, she had already opened it and sure enough, warm air was billowing on us. I breathed a sigh of relief, and Bella said "Vampires." I went to my closet to pick out an outfit "Uh, I'm gonna need more than one word to know what you're talking about." she sat on my bed "Edward, the Cullens, they are vampires." I said "Oh, yeah whats your point?" she said, "Wait, you knew?" I said, "Yep, but Carlisle said I couldn't tell anyone, and given that your boyfriend keeps threatening to kill me, I thought maybe you'd run the other way." I sighed and changed "Guess not." she said, "He's not my boyfriend, and he's been doing what?" I said "Those headaches I keep having?" she nodded I said "Psychic torture, but Carlisle warned him to stop so hopefully he takes a chill pill." I was finally dressed in black shorts and a yellow crop top. I ran a brush through my hair before following her downstairs. Bella handed me my jacket "It may be warm but we're still in Forks." I agreed and took it from her as we headed to school.

After school Bella said, "Do you want to lay outside with me?" I agreed and grabbed my sketchbook and a pencil, outside in Charlie's small, square yard, Bella folded the quilt in half and laid it out of the reach of the tree shadows on the thick lawn that would always be slightly wet, no matter how long the sun shone. I lay on my stomach and started to draw, the more lines I drew the more it looked like Emmett. Again. Bella flipped through her book until she snapped it shut irritated and rolled onto her back. She said, "Are you seriously drawing Emmett Cullen?" I sighed and also flipped over to my back "I didn't mean to, but somehow every time I put pencil to paper his face shows up in my book. Did you know I have accidentally drawn him 25 times? I've drawn Rosalie 20 times. What is happening to me? Why can't I draw anything else?" she shrugged "I have no idea, but aren't they together?" I groaned "This is not a crush Bella, it can't be, I don't have those. But yes and they are perfect together." Bella and I cuddled together and I guess we fell asleep because the next thing I was conscious of was the sound of Charlie's cruiser turning onto the bricks of the driveway. I sat up in surprise, realizing the light was gone, behind the trees. I looked around, muddled, I nudged my sister "Bella. Bella come on." she sat up confused. I could hear his door slamming in front of the house. We jumped up and gathered the now-damp quilt and our stuff. We ran inside to get some oil heating on the stove, realizing that dinner would be late. Charlie was hanging up his gun belt and stepping out of his boots when we came in. Bella said "Sorry, Dad, dinner's not ready yet we fell asleep outside." he said, "Don't worry about it, I wanted to catch the score on the game, anyway." Bella said, "Do you want to go to Port Angeles with me, Jessica, and Angela?" I said, "Yeah, goodnight."

After school, Jessica followed us home in her old white Mercury so that we could ditch our books and cars. I switched my wallet from my schoolbag to a purse I rarely used, and ran out to join Jessica and Bella. We went to Angela's house next, and she was waiting for us. My excitement increased exponentially as we actually drove out of the town limits. Jess drove faster than the Chief, so we made it to Port Angeles by four. It had been a while since I'd had a girls' night out, and the estrogen rush was invigorating. We listened to whiny rock songs while Jessica jabbered on about the boys they hung out with. Jessica's dinner with Mike had gone very well, and she was hoping that by Saturday night they would have progressed to the first-kiss stage. Angela was passively happy to be going to the dance, but not really interested in Eric. Jess tried to get her to confess who her type was, but Bella interrupted with a question about dresses after a bit, to spare her. Port Angeles was a beautiful little tourist trap, much more polished and quaint than Forks. But Jessica and Angela knew it well, so they didn't plan to waste time on the picturesque boardwalk by the bay. Jess drove straight to the one big department store in town, which was a few streets in from the bay area's-visitor-friendly face. The dance was billed as semiformal, and we weren't exactly sure what that meant. Both Jessica and Angela seemed surprised and almost disbelieving when we told them we'd never been to a dance in Phoenix. Jess said, "Didn't either of you ever go with a boyfriend or something?" I said "Neither of us ever had a boyfriend or anything close. We didn't go out much."
