Chapter 39

The Stand sends something hurling towards Grandpa Joseph, knocking him over on the floor, unmoving.

"Old man!" Jotaro calls out but Grandpa Joseph remains unresponsive.

"It's a Stand! It got inside the submarine somehow!" Avdol exclaims.

Kakyoin and I run towards my Grandfather, checking his pulse. He's still alive but we still need to get him some medical attention.

Jotaro uses Star Platinum to send the Stand flying to the other end of the submarine. However, the small Stand dissapears into the controls.

"Guys! I think the Stand can disguise itself as inanimate objects! Or at least, that's what I'm getting from this." I inform them.

"It disguised itself as one of the gauges! One of these gauges, right here!"

"Which one could it be? We're only a few hundred meters away from the reef! We almost made it to Egypt!" Polnareff complains.

I stay sat on the ground next to Kakyoin who is holding up my unconscious Grandpa. I can't believe we almost made it across the Red Sea without getting attacked. So why now?

Avdol explains that we are dealing with another Stand user, The High Priestess. I was right with guessing her stand. She can control her Stand to turn into almost any object.

"But how did it get inside the submarine?"

"What the- I see. Guess that's solved. So it just made a hole and came in?!" Polnareff exclaims as we look at the huge hole with running water in the side of the submarine.

This can't be good.

We're sinking. We're running out of oxygen. We're trapped at the bottom of the ocean. How lovely. It's like going on a school trip but with a little bit of added trauma.

"Hang on! We're going to hit the ocean floor!" Avdol shouts.

The submarine lurches foward and we all fall foward with it. I loose balance, hitting my head on a pole. That's definitely gonna bruise.

"Is everyone okay?" I ask, getting a chorus of 'yes' in return.

"Kakyoin, did you see which gauge it turned into?" Jotaro asks.

Kakyoin begins to think, looking at each individual gauge. Even I can't remember. It all happened so quickly.

A second later, Star Platinum sends a punch towards one of the gauges. But it's no longer mimicking the gauge.

"Jotaro! It already moved! It's behind Nori!" I exclaim bringing out my Stand as the enemy begins hurling itself at Kakyoin

But I'm too late. The Stand slices the side of Kakyoin neck, blood flying out from the wound.

"Nori!"

I rush over to his side, inspecting the wound. He let's out a hiss in pain, placing his hand across his neck.

"It's not too deep. You should be okay until we resurface." I let out a breath of relief, knowing he'll be okay. We all stagger towards the next room trying our best to run through the water at our ankles.

Avdol tries to turn the doors wheel but the Stand has already emerged itself with the object.

Before we have a moment to come up with a plan, Jotaro already has Star Platinum gripping hold of the enemy Stand, ripping it from the wheel.

"Yes! We caught it!"

"It's fast... but not as fast as Star Platinum. What should we do with it?" Jotaro asks casually.

"Jotaro! Don't hesitate! No need to show mercy! Just rip it's head off! Quick!" Polnareff exclaims.

What a lovely thought.

Star Platinum goes to tear it in half when blood begins pouring from Jotaro's hands. What the fuck did it do this time?!

"Damnit! It turned into a razor!"

The Stand flies past us and hits the ceiling, laughing down at us with a cocky smile. That bastard is gonna pay!

Grandpa Joseph begins waking up, standing beside us holding his head.

"Forget it, Jotaro! It'll just retreat into the metal again! The water is rising! We need to seal it off! After we get out of here, we'll figure out how to fight it together!" Avdol exclaims.

Jotaro turns to say something to the enemy Stand before closing the door behind him. We run down the corridor towards one of the other rooms.

"What are we going to do?! It's us or it... Even if we're able to seal it off... sooner or later it'll break through the walls and into our part of the sub!" Kakyoin explains.

"As long as we're surrounded by machines, we're at it's mercy! We can't stay here any longer! We have to abandon ship and make it to Egypt some other way!"

"How do you expect we get out of here alive Avdol?! We're forty meters under the ocean!" I huff, looking around for something to help us.

Grandpa Joseph holds up some equipment in front of us with a smirk. This is no time to be messing around!

"We're going to scuba dive?! I've never done this before!" Polnareff's eyes widen as he picks up some of the gear.

I've always wanted to go scuba diving but I never got the chance. Mother said it is too dangerous but I beg to differ. It's a shame this is all happening under such terrible conditions.

We all quickly but carefully put on our scuba diving gear. Kakyoin helps me with my straps so I help with his. This gear is as heavy as I thought it would be. Luckily, I'm stronger than I look.

"Has anyone scuba dived before?" Grandpa Joseph asks but we all answer 'no'.

I guess he's gonna have to give us a quick lesson.
