Saving my mate
Hayden's P.O.V
It had been a month since I found her and a month since she had awoken. My wolf had gone into a state of depression, he wanted to be able to live his life with his mate, take her out, make her feel like a princess, maybe start a family, but at the moment the doctors say that there is very little chance of her awakening.
She had been moved into my room, and laid peacefully under the covers of my bed. If I didn't know better, I would say she was asleep, but I did.
Her black hair, which had previously been matted and covered in blood, now lay around her like a black silk curtain. Once I had told my sisters about her they had insisted on helping look after her, starting by washing her body and hair.
Both had been so excited about me finding my mate, though the excitement soon vanished once I filled them in about her condition. Since then I had barley left my room, choosing to do my work outside of my study, and away from the pack. They had not been told about my mate yet, in case other packs heard, and saw it as a weakness that would enable them to attack the pack.
Today I would have to leave her in the care of my mum and sisters, I had a meeting with the alphas over an idiotic argument about a piece of land, it wasn't even good land, but to alphas it didn't matter they always wanted something that their opposition wanted.
The only reason I had agreed to this meeting was to find out more about my mate, and which alpha needed to be punished for her abuse. Even thinking about her life before she came here had my wolf on the brink, even though she had not told anyone what happened to her, her body told the story.
Most of her bones were fracture, broken or out of place. Multiple bruises covered her body, which should have healed months ago, showing her wolf had been severely weakened. Her bones stuck out at every possible point, showing that she had been fed very little, and there were dark circles beneath her eyes.
Even though she was battered and bruised, I could see the beauty underneath. Thick, black, eyelashes framed her eyes; small, plump, red lips drew your eyes to her face. She had high cheekbones, and long, thin legs.
She was very small, probably no taller than 5 foot, 4 inches, much smaller that my 6 foot, 6 inches. Her small body made me even more protective of her, creating this primal need to make sure she was safe and well.
"Hayden, you need to get going" my mum demanded.
Slowly, I lent down brushing the hair from Alexis' forehead, before placing a soft kiss there. "Goodbye, beautiful, get better for me" I tell her, kissing her forehead once again before leaving the room.
"Hurry up, mate, or we'll miss the flight!" Max shouts from the front garden.
I let out a small growl, but quickly calmed myself, heading downstairs. "You alright, Hayden?" max questions, as he continues to place all of the suitcases into the back of the car.
"What do you think?" I mumble back, getting a swat on the back of my head from my mum.
