I was never distracted when it came to my duties

I was never distracted when it came to my duties. The duty to study or the duty to be a good swordsman, I wanted to be good at everything.

Being at a disadvantage of having only one eye, which usually happens to be a point of pity for me. I made a pact to myself, to excel at everything whether it is my education or sword fighting...or riding the world's largest dragon, so they would have nothing to talk about other than my achievements.

Which also includes being nothing like my brother.

Thus far no one has made me stray from my path, but that stops now.

My thoughts always end up circling her...just like my dragon. I think the problem with me here is that she is roaming in my home and I haven't caught a single glance of her.

I gave up the chance there in Helaena's chamber as I didn't want her to see me. Let's say I am looking for an opportunity to see her where she doesn't see me.

She again missed dinner last night so I had it with my uncle and my half-sister. I spent the entire time thinking about her excuse for this absence.

I think a lot actually and it was my thoughts that made me unable to grasp the sudden invasion and made my reflexes rather weak.

"Ow!!" She voiced as her forehead hit a metal clasp on my tunic. My hands moved at this sudden crash but...I don't know where they moved to.

Maenya Velaryon is a spitting image of her mother. I heard my mother say that once, but right now, actually seeing her for the first time...I don't know about her mother but she is nothing like Baela, her half-sister.

Her expression showed pain as her hand tried to soothe her aching forehead. The unexpected hit made her take a step back; however, she was still at arm's length, while her silver braids were loosely hanging around her back. Either her maid styled it this way or they have lost all their pins.

I was looking at her tightly closed eyes, patiently waiting for her to open them. I wanted to see if they were as violet as mine or as violet as the houses of Valyria.

She opened her eyes and my body went stiff. Not from the electric blue of her eyes but from the movement of her eyes. They were settled on my eye patch...and my scar, I guess.

Soon she shifted her eyes to mine. Her eyes reminded me of the Blackwater Bay under the sun. As her gaze then went to Ser Cole beside me, her expression fell.

"Don't you think you should be apologizing to the prince?" I heard him speak.

"And why exactly should I be doing that?" This was not the confused girl I heard in Helaena's chamber. This was the girl I saw in Driftmark.

"For saving your rather clumsy self from falling to the ground," he said. My brows slightly furrowed at his words to a princess.

"Well if the prince wants me to apologize," Her eyes return to mine. So she recognized me, which meant she knew about the scar. "For crashing into him, he can ask for it himself." She further added.
