You slowly open your eyes. The sun is shining, which confuses you.

Your eyes adjust a bit more and you look around.

"You good?" Scaramouche stares at you a bit disturbed. He was sitting against a tree and reading something that looked like a letter.

"Hm?" Is the only thing you say.

"You've slept in that position all night." He averts his eyes back to the letter. "Don't complain about your neck hurting later."

There's some kind of soup boiling on a small fire, and you blink a few times, glancing over at the notebook. You must've fallen asleep.

You get up and carefully walk over to the fire.

"The soup should be done by now, you can take some" Scaramouche mumbles.

Being careful not to irritate your bruise, you kneel down and grab a bowl. The soup smells amazing, and you eagerly try it. It warms you up from inside and you sigh satisfied.

-

A group of pigeons hastily flies away upon you stepping onto the bridge. A little boy starts yelling at you about something not to scare the birds. Scaramouche glares at him and the child immediately shuts up.

"Don't scare little children." You scold him. He scoffs and continues walking. You roll your eyes and silently apologize to the little boy.

The Gate is guarded by two knights, who look a bit bored. When seeing Scaramouche they immediately straighten and visibly tense up. One of them walks into the village.

I feel like Scaramouche isn't that liked in Mondstadt... Or.. anywhere, for that matter.

You two enter the gates and people are staring at you. You've expected it, since you're wearing Liyue clothing, and Scaramouche is a big eyecatcher especially because of his hat.

"Okay, now what?" You ask him.

"I'll send some agents to inform the Fatui that I have arrived. We'll be staying here for about 2 days, so I'll also ask for 2 separate hotel rooms. Don't get your hopes up though, your hotel room will constantly be guarded on the outside, so don't think of escaping."

You laugh. "I haven't tried escaping once. You can calm down." He doesn't laugh. Bummer. You've gotten more comfortable with talking to Scaramouche since he's also warmed up a bit to you. He raises one of his eyebrows and looks at you.

"I'll order a recruit to accompany you since I have to go to the first meeting. He'll show you your hotel room. Alright?" You eagerly nod. You couldn't wait to lie down on a real bed.

Soon a Fatui recruit joins Scaramouche and you.
"Bring her to her hotel room. But stay in the hall, don't go into her room." He whispers the last part, so you won't hear it. The recruit nods and turns to you.

"Follow me." Is all he says. The recruit introduces himself as 'Arnold' and informs you, that you'll be stuck with him for a while.

"Okay, see you later." You give Scaramouche a small wave before going after the recruit.

The goth hotel was quite pretty. A fancy-schmancy place practically buzzing with people wearing Fatui masks.

"Hey Arnold, who's that? You know this place is strictly reserved for the Fatui."

"Dude, I know, she's accompanying Lord Scaramouche. The second room is for her."

"Oh shit, is the Lord already here?!"

Arnold nods and without another word you enter the hotel with him.

The front desk manager examines you and gives you a smile.

Oh hell no, I do not like that man's look...

"Hello there, what can I do for you two?" He asks, still looking at you.

"This is..." The Fatui recruit hesitates and turns to you.

"Ah, I'm Y/N."

"Yeah, this is Y/N. The Fatui has booked a room for her." Arnold awkwardly clears his throat.

The manager grins. "Y/N.. A pretty name. Are you single?"

"Uhhh." You were taken aback by his direct question, though you had a bad feeling about this.

"I'll take that as a no. May I take you out to the Angel's Share after my shift? The drinks are on me, of course."

You take a deep breath. "Sorry, but I'm not interested." The manager's eyes widen.

"C'mon, why are you so rude? I asked nicely. Am I not attractive enough for you?" His jaw clenches. Oh, great, a typical fragile ego.

"Okay, that's enough. Y/N, I'll be showing you your room, please follow me." Arnold steps in, yanking the room key out of the manager's hands.

You quietly thank Arnold for interrupting this asshole and getting you out of that situation.

He nods and opens the hotel room door for you. Stepping inside, you look around the room. It's cute, small and most of all, your own. With your own privacy.

You were lucky, it was on the 4th and highest floor, which gave your room a chimney. You squeal and place your belongings neatly under the bed. After organizing your things, you lay down on the bed. The mattress was incredibly soft and the blanket heavy. You fell asleep almost instantly, after having barely rested last night.
