"Oh, you little-..." Signora scoffs arrogantly, before just walking straight past you.

Glad I didn't get fried just now.

You continue walking down the corridor, a bit more cautious than before. Seems like you aren't exactly allowed to be here like this... A very familiar voice calls behind you, as one of the doors open.

"Y/n, didn't I tell you to stay in my office.?" Scaramouche approaches you and crosses his arms. He practically came out of nowhere-

"Why are you here?"

You grimace slightly. "Well, a certain Childe came by your office and asked me these weird 'Tell me who you really are' questions again. I eventually got sick of it and then left."

For a split second there's a strange expression on his face, as if he just remembered something. The Balladeer's demeanor changes, and you raise an eyebrow.

"Scara-",  "Follow me, we shouldn't just stay in the corridors like this." He cuts you off, gently taking your hand and pulling you after him to the nearest exit.

His behavior confuses you a bit, he's more unpredictable than usual and the way his voice hardens with every word reminds you of the Scaramouche you first met a few months ago back at the lake...

You two finally stop outside of the building and are both standing on the bridge of the bank.

"So, what is all of this about?" You carefully ask, tilting your head a bit to see his face, which is turned away from you.

"Y/n, you know that I am a part of the Fatui... but please be honest with me. The faster we get this out of the way, the easier." He mumbles, finally turning around. His eyes are soft- almost concerned as he grabs one of your hands.

"Tell me who you really are... please, you are hiding something."

I knew it.

"You too.? Are you not believing me when I say I don't know? That I don't remember up until the day I approached the fatui agent to ask where I am??" Your voice grows slightly irritated.

Scaramouche sighs and tightens the grip on your hand, the cold metal of his rings pressing against your skin.

"Y/n, you have to be honest with me, otherwise this won't work."

"Oh, so you're now calling me a liar?"

"No, I am not, Archon's sake, can't you just tell me?!"

You suddenly rip your hands out of his grasp, your face twists in frustration.

"I don't have anything to tell you, okay?!" You yell, Scaramouche looking at you surprised. He obviously didn't expect this reaction, but now raises his voice too.

"Y/n, don't play this game with me!"

"No, Scaramouche, don't you play this game with me. If you only had the intention to spy on me this whole time we spent together, just leave it. I'll find my own way around this world."

Without another word, you run past Scaramouche and down the stairs towards the nearest bridge out of the city. You just had to get out of here. You're scared that not Scaramouche, but the Fatui will come after you, and that thought just pushed you to run even faster.

Past numerous shops and people looking at you weird,
past a strange woman with light blue hair and horns that tries to talk to you,
over the bridge,
through the weeds and plants of Liyue's nature,
past a body of water- hold on.

Where am I?

You look around, the adrenaline of the moment leaving your body at once. Gasping for air and crouching down, you look at your surroundings. The sky has gotten gloomy and dark, even though it is only early evening.

I have no time to be confused, I have to find somewhere I can stay and hide... Returning to Liyue isn't an option right now.

You (finally) manage to catch your breath a bit and get up. As it seems like no one is following you yet, finding a safe place should be your top priority now.

You start walking slowly, constantly turned away from the city of contracts. Soon a strange structure builds up in the distance and you recognize it quite quickly. It's the same kind of house Hillichurls lived in that you and Scaramouche saw on your travels... before he got rid of them.

The thought of Scaramouche floods your mind and instead of sadness and regret, you try to turn these emotions into anger. He talked to you the same way the other harbingers did. After already being bothered by them the whole time you were in the bank, Scaramouche had just pushed you over the edge.

No wonder, how can you talk about a subject you don't know about?! Your past is unknown to you, after all..

You carefully approach the Hilichurl outpost, but soon notice that it is completely quiet, and no fire is burning either. It's abandoned!

As if this was the perfect moment, a thunder roars over Liyue and you quickly bolt over to one of the more intact buildings, hiding under it as the rain starts pouring out of the clouds

As if this was the perfect moment, a thunder roars over Liyue and you quickly bolt over to one of the more intact buildings, hiding under it as the rain starts pouring out of the clouds. It's loud, but not louder than the storm inside of your head.

You suddenly remember back to the time you were sick. The fever dreams felt like more than just dreams, more like distorted and torn memories...

"I didn't mean to."

"I had no other choice."

"I couldn't take it anymore."

Those phrases didn't leave you alone at that time, but everything else was such a blur. Maybe they're bits from your past, maybe they were just that: A fever dream.

Not only the thought of the dream, but the constant question of who you really are and what you are doing here haunts you the rest of the night, barely being able to rest.

By the early morning it had finally stopped raining, but you didn't move out of the house once.

The Fatui are surely looking for me, I'm too obvious and vulnerable in the open.
