Night drive

We stay at the party for an hour longer before I grow drowsy, I yawn for the 4th time before Aaron looks at me sideways.

"Do you want to go home?" he says and I nod.

We say goodbye to Luna and Cameron along with a few other guests and we make it outside when the valet drives the car over to us. It's already dark outside considering how late we stayed.

Aaron guides me into the car so I don't knock my head and we drive off. I connect my phone with the aux and play some music while we drive.

I feel the alcohol wearing off and I scroll through my phone to look for another song.

While picking a song to fit a late night drive and I turn my head and roll down the window halfway and untie my hair.

Closing my eyes, I enjoy the music not caring about the wind sweeping my hair over my face. I stick my hand out of the window and fell the wind push back against it.

At peace I breathe out and open my eyes the street lights whizzing by shine in my eyes and I turn over to face Aaron.

His hair moves over his eyes because of the wind but he stays focused straight on the road, ignoring it.

The soft light reflecting over his side profile highlights the angles of his face... he's actually very handsome, too bad I can't stand him.

Even so I enjoy the view, his beauty hypnotizing.

Looking over at his hands on the steering wheel I'm curious at how he managed to bruise his hands. When I saw him in the gym he had gloves on.

"Is there a problem Valerie? you're staring at me." he says not looking away from the road.

"Yeah there is, why are you so uptight?" I say just above the music.

He surprisingly answers me "I like to be fully in control of my emotions and actions at all times."

"Is it because of the anger issues your aunt mentioned?" I ask curiously.

His hands tighten around the steering wheel before he replies "Yes."

Oddly enough it makes sense to me. If he's been working on trying not to explode every minute of the day it must take alot of work. Maybe that's why he's so serious.

"Is it hard to control? your anger I mean." I say and keep observing his face.

He breathes out through his nose before replying "Not anymore, it became easier with age."

I'm surprised at his sudden openness, but I decide not to ask any further in fear he might close up again.

The wind must finally be bothering him when he rakes his hand through his hair to get it out of his face.

My breath hitches at the action and I turn to face forward again and I roll the window up feeling chilly because of the cold breeze.

Shivering slightly I run my hands over my bare arms, Aaron must notice because he adjusts the climate control and warm air fills the car.

I hum along to the next song that plays and I notice Aaron tapping along to the beat. Smiling silently to myself I turn up the volume, close my eyes and rest my head on the back of the seat.

The car stops and the driver side door opens and shuts. I assume we are at my penthouse but I don't bother opening my eyes.

The door next to me opens and I feel Aaron lean over and unstrap my seat belt. I crack one eye open and speak.

"I'm awake you know, I could of done that myself."

He's still leaned over inches away from my face and I can smell his cologne he smells fresh and cool just like his demeanor, he then speedily backs away.
