Rosemary Hale grew up her whole life being taught that pure blood supremacy was necessary. That half bloods and muggle borns were dirt on the bottom of their shoes... But she didn't see it that way. What happens when she falls in love? Can she chang...

The rest of the first week went by pretty quickly. It's now Friday night and I'm getting ready for Slughorn's Slug Club Welcome Dinner. Luckily Blaise was in Slug Club as well so I wouldn't be alone. I finished up curling my long blonde hair in loose waves. I kept my makeup simple with some mascara, winged eyeliner, and red lipstick. I slipped into my velvet emerald green midi dress (pictured above). I paired it with silver heels, diamond drop earrings, and my mother's diamond snake necklace. The large engagement ring on my left hand went perfectly with the rest of my jewelry. When I was ready I started heading to the common room.
As I arrive I see Draco, Pansy, Astoria, and Lili sitting on the couches talking to Theodore Nott and Blaise, who is wearing a nice dress shirt and trousers. Lili sees me coming and let's out a whistle.
"You look gorgeous, Rosie!" Astoria tells me.
"Looking good, Rosemary." Theo says, throwing me a wink.
"Watch your mouth, Nott. Did you forget that she's betrothed to me now?" Draco snaps.
"Relax Malfoy. I wouldn't dream of getting on your bad side." Nott says rolling his eyes.
"Well should we head to Slughorn's party?" Blaise asks me holding out his arm.
"We should." I tell him while wrapping my arm through his.
"We'll be back later." Blaise tells them.
I lock eyes with Draco but he stays silent. I don't know why I was expecting him to compliment me. He's not the complimenting type.
Blaise and I are quiet on the way to Slughorn's office. When we arrive, we notice Potter and Granger sitting down at the table. I shoot them a small smile and take a seat next to Blaise and Granger.
"How are you, Rosemary?" Harry asks.
"I'm doing well Harry. How was your summer?" I ask him.
"It was good, I spent it with the Weasley's." He said.
"I'm sorry to hear about your godfather. I know how much he meant to you. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here." I tell him.
I had no problems with the famed trio. Granted being in Slytherin, I didn't spend much time with them and we didn't talk much. Especially outside of Hogwarts, with my father being a death eater. It doesn't help that Draco despises Harry.
"I appreciate it, Rosemary." He says.
"Welcome, everyone! I invited you all here because you are the brightest witches and wizards in potions. Now I'd like to get to know each and every one of you a bit more. Blaise, why don't we start with you?" Slughorn asks as he sits down at the table.
"Well, I'm Blaise Zabini. I'm a Slytherin and in my sixth year and I want to be a biographer after I graduate." He says.
"Thank you Blaise." Slughorn says. He turns his gaze to me.
"I'm Rosemary Hale. Also, Slytherin and in my sixth year. I want to be a potioneer when I graduate." I tell everyone.
"Miss Hale, I noticed you have a ring on your left finger. Do you mind telling me as to who you are betrothed?" He asks.
My mouth goes a dry and my hands anxiously play with my fingers. Blaise lies his hand on top of mine trying to comfort me under the table.
"I'm engaged to Draco Malfoy." I say quietly while keeping my eyes down at my plate.
"Mr. Malfoy is a great young lad. I am sure you will be happy with him." He says, but the compliment doesn't reach his eyes that are filled with worry and dread.
I look over at Potter and Granger to see them giving me a worried look as well.
I cannot blame them for being worried though. It's not a secret that Draco's father, Lucius was just arrested last Spring for being at the battle of the Department of Mysteries. It was common knowledge now that Lucius Malfoy was a death eater. He is now in hiding from the Ministry. Luckily for me, my father had a different mission that night. I know that Draco hates Potter for getting his father arrested. He was gone for most of the summer in Azkaban until he broke out. (A/N: I am aware that this conflicts with the movie/book timeline but this fits where I'm going better)
I'm lucky that nobody at Hogwarts suspects that my family are death eaters. We have managed to keep our names out of the press since the first wizarding war.
I soon realize that I spaced out, and everyone is done eating.
"I will see you all in Potions on Monday." Slughorn says dismissing us all.
Blaise and I start to walk back to the Dungeons when Harry interrupts.
"Rosemary, can I talk to you quick?" He asks.
Blaise looks like he's going to say something mean but I give him a harsh look as if to say drop it, I'm fine. He nods briefly before walking off to the Slytherin Common room.
"What's up, Harry?" I ask.
"You're engaged to Malfoy? You're too good for him, Rosemary. You're kind, intelligent, and could marry any guy you want. Why would you choose to live the rest of your life with someone so mean-spirited, hateful, and dangerous? His father is a death eater, Rosemary. At some point he will become one too, if he hasn't already." Harry says.
"Not that I have to explain myself to you, Potter, but I didn't choose this engagement. My father did, but even if that is so, Draco has been my friend since we were born. I will not allow you to speak so nasty about his character. Yes, he can be rude at times, but you haven't seen him when he's around me. He's kind and protective of me." I tell him angrily.
How dare he shame me for being with Draco. I don't tell him who he can and cannot be with.
"Well, well, well. What do you think you're doing with my future wife, Potter?" Draco asks angrily.
I turn and see Draco walking up behind me. He steps in front of me.
"He's not doing anything. He was just leaving." I say bitterly.
Harry scoffs but walks towards Gryffindor's common room.
"What we're you talking to Potter about?" Draco asks holding my wrist so I couldn't walk away from him.
"Slughorn brought up our engagement in front of everyone. I think he was just surprised." I tell him honestly.
"You should not be seen alone with him. I would hate to see the Dark Lord or his followers hearing about how my future wife is a blood traitor." He says tightening his grip on me.
"Draco, you're hurting me." I tell him.
He releases his grip and his face relaxes a bit.
"I'm sorry. It's just a well known fact that you are a kind person to everyone including mud-bloods. His followers will eat you alive if they ever found out. I'm trying to protect you but you have to help me out." He says caressing my wrist he was holding a few seconds ago.
I nod at him to let him know that I understand his demands. I start to walk toward the dungeons but he gently pulls me back to him.
"You look absolutely breathtaking by the way." He says caressing my cheek.
For a second I thought he might kiss me. His lips fall on my forehead instead.
"C'mon, let's get back to the common room." He says holding out his hand for me.
I lace our fingers together and we walk through the dark halls.
All I know is I'm starting to fall for him. I just hope that he can open himself up to me.
