Twenty Eight

Odette

Benedict and a few others were preparing for their journey to the kingdom. Eric's coronation was tomorrow night and we had to move quickly. Elida was able to round up a few orcs and elves to help as the giants would later join them closer to the exit

"Elida, I must go!" I shouted following my aunt through the council room

"Odette it is not safe and you are pregnant!" she repeated again

"Yes, but he won't believe anyone but me" I stressed 

"I am not changing my mind! You are not far enough in your pregnancy and it is dangerous, end of discussion" she ended before storming out the room 

There was no way I was going to stand by as they all went to the kingdom. I may be 3 months pregnant but I could still put up a fight. These past two weeks have shown me that I can't let my children father die. As much as my heart still hurts our bond would never survive if he left this earth 

Elida was not going to keep me locked in this cave. I was tired of being treated like fragile object... this child was not going to stop me from anything. I had to come up with a plan and fast. They planned on leaving tomorrow night and I had to make sure I was on the road with them

I needed help if this would work out. Opening the door I scanned the area... everyone seemed to be  gone. I rushed outside heading to the other houses, if anyone would help me its Alice! It was getting late so everybody would be heading home now. There were a few soldiers around but I dodged them pretty well 

All this walking was working me out, carrying two babies was proving to be harder than I expected but I wasn't going to let it stop me! I finally came up to Alice's place the lights were home and I smiled 

I knocked on the door hard hoping she would answer quick, in a second it was open and I barged in

"Odette?" 

"Alice, I need your help" I said quickly walking to sit on her couch 

Her place was adorable though it was temporary. I could tell her fiancé did a great Job. Alice walked over to me taking a seat still confused 

"Does Elida know you're here?" she asked 

"No... and thats why I need help. They are going to the kingdom today to save Eric from being killed and refuse to let me go" I quickly said  

Alice had a blank stare on her face as she was taking everything in, "I thought... you hated Eric? Why do you want to go?" 

"I do... but my children need a father and... I don't think I can live with myself knowing he is dead" I whispered playing with my fingers 

This pregnancy hasn't been ideal, everyday I battle with myself on how to feel about motherhood. I remember how much my heart aches because of Eric, he was like my best friend... we had a special bond that I can't let go. He would also be excited to know we are having twins, he'd probably raise them better than me

"Odette, its okay to love him" she said wrapping an arm over my shoulder for a side hug 

"Thank you, Alice" I sniffled 

"I know Elida will kill me but I will help you catch up to them, even though I dislike the human. My nieces deserve somewhat of a father" she said getting up to mix a few liquids 

Alice was skilled in teleportation magic, she was one of few who could get people from place to another. I began to gather my bags and prepare myself for this journey, Elida wasn't that far from the village so I would be able to catch them quick 

"Give me your finger" Alice said as I placed my thumb over the bowl

She stabbed my finger with a knife and let the blood drop inside, "we should see them soon then I can transport you there" she said mixing the liquids 

In a second a cloud image of them in the forest was present, I smiled at Alice as once again she amazed me. She began to shift and created a portal for me, "I've never tried this on a pregnant women but I made sure to add protection. Please be safe and don't die" she said hugging me 

I nodded at her words and mouthed a small thank you before stepping inside the portal. I don't know what I would do without Alice, she truly was my best friend and I had so much to repay her for so much. Stepping inside a bright light flashed and I was knocked out fast

"Odette?!?!" I heard my name being called as I opened my eyes

Everyone was surrounding me as I laid on the grass, Benedict helped me off the ground and he gave me questionable look. Elida came from behind the large group furious that I had teleported here but I didn't care. I was not going to sit back and let them fight alone

"You are a stubborn girl" she said before telling everyone to continue on

I could tell they were already very close to the exit, they must have used magic to get this far because it takes almost two days to get from our end of the forest to the castle. I could tell everyone was shocked to see the fairy who basically started all of this... some gave me dirty looks as it was clear I was pregnant while others seemed unbothered 

Benedict stayed close by my side as he sensed the glares around us, "I'm glad you came" he whispered to me

I gave him a smile as I was glad too, Eric was going to be saved by morning
