Chapter 25

Ranger still hadn't woken up, it had been two days, and the little crow still laid in the nest unresponsive to anything Quackity did. Phil still put drops of potion in the little crows mouth, and Quackity still refused to let him take the crow from him. At some point he had made a smaller nest out of Techno's cape, around Ranger and curled around it. He didn't remember making it. Phil had said it was the avian instincts trying to take care of the little crow. Quackity didn't like that Phil would insist on him leaving the nest to go and do flight training outside with him and Tommy. And with his mind too preoccupied with Ranger, he barely paid attention, as his body did as Phil instructed seemingly on automatic. Tommy was kept at the edge of the nest, Quackity wouldn't let him near. Only Phil was allowed. Only Phil could make it better.

So, when Quackity woke up to find not Phil in the middle of the nest but Techno, his first instinct was to fan his wings out and hiss.

"Good morning to you too." Techno grunted. He was reading a book labeled 'Greek Myths,' and didn't seem to be bothered by Quackity threatening him to look up from it.

"Where's Phil?" He hissed, hunching his body where he was practically crouched over the little crow.

"Out." Techno answered turning a page, making no eye contact. "Phil has other things to do besides taking care of you, you know."

He didn't like that. Phil was suppose to stay. "Get out!" He hissed.

"Nah." Technoblade huffed, setting his book down as he reached to the side where Quackity couldn't see. "Here." He said, revealing another book.

Quackity felt his wings shake a bit as he hissed again. He needed Phil in the nest, not the Blade.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. You don't have to rattle your wings. I got the message loud and clear." Techno said, looking very much bored. "Look just read the title before you make any snap judgments." He said, tossing the book lightly to land in front of Quackity, but not too close to the nest.

Quackity, looked at the book. 'A Book About Wingcare. Volume #1, A Fledglings Guide.' He narrowed his eyes, sending a glare to Techno, who was now looking at him. "Are you trying to be funny!" He demanded, wings bristling that Techno thought that now was a good time to try and fuck with him.

"No. But you can't keep obsessing over the crow. Trust me I've seen Phil and Tommy get that way, So have I at certain points in my life. Its not a pretty sight. You need something to distract you. Learning how to care for your own wings, seemed like a good idea. You can't have Phil preening you forever." Techno said, picking his own book back up and no longer watching Quackity.

Logically, Quackity understood that Techno was correct. He couldn't keep relying on Phil. He was planning on leaving once he tricked Phil to letting him go. But there was that loud voice in his head the did not like the idea of Phil no longer being there. Of no longer being able to come to the nest. No more preening sessions. No more comforting chirps. And with no more Phil, meant no more Ranger. Unless he stole Ranger. Not right now though. Once he got away from Philza, maybe he wouldn't feel like he would need to rely on anothers presence so much.

"Why did he leave?" He asked, slowly bringing the book closer to him. If Techno thought he was going to get a 'thank you,' he was surely wrong.

Techno shrugged. "I didn't ask. The quicker he's able to finish, that fast I can leave, when he returns. Then I want have to worry about you jumping me. Or those nasty looks that your giving me right now." Techno sighed, and looked back up. "Look think about it this way. You could have gotten stuck with Wilbur fledglingsitting you. Luckily, he wanted to be with Tommy today. So, how about we just come to an agreement that we both had a change of plans alright." Techno said, situating himself where he was more comfortable and funny enough fixing reading glasses on his face.
