Chapter 30

(Crows)

Ranger was flying around with no real destination in mind. Just circling the land, joined by their flock. Everyone just chatting about the day. About what they had seen. What the people of the land was up too and which information would be best to relay back to Philza. That is what they did. They reported what they find or seen, so the Crow Father would not be caught off guard. So no danger would befall him or those he loved. Today Brian was flying with them listening to everything. And Ranger made sure to give a full report on Quackity.

'Yelled at you!'

'What does he mean, 'wouldn't understand'?'

'Not human?! Just a bird?!'

'How rude!'

'He put the device on!!'

'Oh no!'

'Sad..'

'I'm on the fence with feeling right now!'

'Bad Fledgling!!'

'Should we tell them where to find him?'

'I vote yes!'

'No!'

'Really, he basically just insulted all of us! I vote yes!'

'Yes!'

'Would that solve anything though?'

Ranger shook their head at the chatter of the rest of the flock looking to Brian for a direct answer. For Brian out of all of them was the one to stay with Crow Father with no break for reincarnation, so Brian was the most experience when taking on an active role in someones life. Ranger and the flock were just companions. Watchers. Guides sometimes. Brian was for forever. 'Nothing good will come from fighting. He is not the Crow Father. You must remember that.' Was all Brian croaked out before leaving the flock to return to Phil.

Ranger tilted their head in confusion. That was not the answer they were particularly looking for. But then they themselves and the flock never made sense most of the time. They decided that flying around a bit longer would be better. It would give them and Quackity both time to cool their heads, and hopefully that device would be gone too. They were just trying to help, the device was the root of the problem. Although, they really felt bad about getting upset, with Quackity's words. But they wouldn't trade being a crow of the Crow Father for nothing. They didn't regret their decision to stay with Phiza, and becoming on of Lady Death's messengers.

(Quackity)

Ranger hadn't came back yet! He was waiting and waiting, and the longer Ranger didn't return the less he was able to focus on the tasks at hand. His bed was shattered, even with the device on, his wings bothered him. They itched. They pinched. They were too big for the device that they felt crushed and his shoulder-blades felt like they were being pushed inward and if he slouched the strap around his neck and the metal pieces aligned with his spine cut off breathing. But he wasn't taking it off. He had to get his wings back to just staying flat. To just not move. And then he would be able just go back to pretending that he didn't have wings. It was simple. So simple. Now if only Ranger would come back he'd be able to focus. Rangers presence would have at least calmed him, and he'd be able to stay on task of figuring out the potions he had taken from Phil's stash. But Ranger hadn't come back.

Unable to take it anymore. To see his pitiful nest made of the shattered bed empty. Ranger should be in it. His instincts were yelling, screeching in his brain, that things were wrong. Wrong. Quackity, scooped the potions back in the bag and slung it over his should and yanked the door to the small room and ran out. He had to get Ranger and bring him back. He shouldn't have let the little crow back to begin with. Of course the creature would fly back to Phil. He was so stupid.
