Jude's POV
"I'm not going to school today. I can't." I say to Connor, while we're eating breakfest alone in the kitchen.
"I'm not going either then." he says.
"I don't think a lot of people is gonna go actually."
"No one's going to school today. It's closed." says Lena entering the kitchen. "Stef gave me news. The man was arrested yesterday. No one died, but five person were hurt." she continues.
"Who?" I ask.
"I don't remember them all, but I remember seeing Taylor on the list."
"Is she gonna be okay?" asks Connor.
"Yes. She's going to be in the hospital. Her shoulder got shot pretty badly. She'll be aloud visiters tomorrow if you guys want to go visit her."
"Yeah we will. Thanks for letting us know. How Mariana and Jesus?" I ask.
"Almost in perfect shape. They're coming home the day after tomorrow."
"Really? That's great!"
"Yup. Guys, I have to go to the grocery store. Brandon and Callie are visiting Mariana and Jesus, so you two are home alone. Lock the doors and only answer to the people you know."
"Okay." I say.
"I'll be back in an hour." she says, heading to the door. Once she's outside, I get up and lock the door.
I walk back at the table and sit next to Connor.
"So I've been thinking. Do you want to go on a date? Like a real one. Just you and me." I say.
"Yes. Where should we go?"
"A walk on the beach?" I look at his crutches. "Or we can just sit on the beach."
"A walk on the beach sounds great. I don't care about my crutches."
"Okay. We have an hour in front of us. Should we make the best of it at the beach?"
"But Lena made it pretty clear that she wants us to stay here."
"We go anyway. We know she's coming in an hour, so we come back a little bit earlier."
We clean up our plates and walk outside. I lock the door behide me and we start walking toward the beach. When we get there, Connor look exausted.
"Are you sure you just don't want to sit down?" I ask.
"Let's sit down."
We sit on rocks in front of the water. Connor put his crutches beside him. He take my left hand and both of our hands rest on my thigh.
"Did you really mean the 'I love you' yesterday? Or did the panic went to your head?"
"Both. I just wanted to make sure you knew how I felt in case something bad happened."
"Is that really how you feel? You love me?"
Connor nods. "It's not just a crush anymore."
"We've come such a long way."
"Yeah. Remember your first day at school?"
"What is there to remember? The fear, confusion and loneliness?"
"Me silly."
"Oh yeah I forgot about that."
"Really?"
"Nope, you're pretty much all I remember from that day."
"You seemed so lost. Hey are you new?" says Connor, acting the day we first met.
"Yes."
"And then I said something like Do you want me to show you around?"
"Um okay. I was so surprised someone actually talked to me."
"Why?"
"I never had real friends before you. No one even bothered talking to me in the previous schools."
"I don't know why they didn't. You're such an amazing friend to have. And you're an ever better boyfriend."
I smile. "I could say the same about you. Sometimes I wonder how you can be so nice and charming."
"Well I don't like to hurt people's feelings, so I don't."
"People should have your personnality."
"Nah, I rather keep it to myself."
We both laugh.
"We should get going." I say.
"Right now?"
"Believe it or not, but we've been talking for like 30 minutes already."
"Wow, time flies."
"Yup, c'mon before someone notice that we're gone."
"Wait. Let's take a selfie first."
"Good idea. I'll have something interesting to put as my lockscreen."
I take out my phone and we press our cheeks together. I take a picture. Then Connor kisses my cheek and I take a photo. I kiss his cheek too. Then we press our foreheads together. I also take a picture of that. Finally, we kiss and I take a picture before dropping my phone on the sand. I put my hand over Connor's, which are still on my thigh. I pull away and wrap an arm behide his neck.
"We should really get going." I say.
"Yeah."
I help him get up and we head back home.
