Jesse didn't move, stayed with her head down and unable to hear anything with her ears pointed downwards at the floor. She kept herself in a vulnerable position in an attempt to stop the fighting with sincerity and humility, to prevent further violence, to stop the fighting. After a few seconds of silence she opened her eyes to look at the ground just in time to see movement.
Or rather, too, late.
Tory's foot kicked Jesse into a surprise with a small echoing crack, forcing the rich girl up to grab her nose with tears swelling up in her eyes. Jesse sloppily pushed away a few strikes from the blonde, hands on forearms, moving backwards with the strikes, as her mind raced along with her heart. Before she could realize it, she was away from the door and someone had gotten behind her, grabbing her by the hair and yanking her back painfully just in time for Tory to land a solid strike to the stomach.
She cried out painfully, folding over and holding her arms over her stomach as the pain spread throughout her body. Her hair caught on her implants and her speech profesor dangled rom her ear, sending a distracting low squeal throughout her senses. She scrambled with her hands to grab the equipment before they crash onto the ground, her world going silent and her ears in her right hand.
As the pipe was torn away from the handles, Jesse went to scream out in warning, but a hand gripped her over her mouth harshly, an arm wrapping around her throat in threat, and the familiar feeling of vibrations signaling someone talking. With a sharp inhale, Jesse was shoved forward. She was forced into the march feeling like a prisoner of war as the doors slammed open and Tory announced their arrival, and immediately sent their hostage barreling forward to slam into one of the fake walls. The dark haired girl let out a sharp cry as her forehead hit the wall, falling onto her butt from the shock.
Hurriedly, she got her left ear in and tucked her right ear into her sleeve, using her other hand to grab onto her bleeding nose. She could hear too much and not enough, cotton overwhelming her chest as it packed its way down her throat as she searched wildly for her friend in the dark. The chaos had her in jitters, her mind unable to filter through shouts and bangs without feeling like she was surrounded my monsters. There was so much fighting in around her that Jesse shook from her position as she scooted back into the wall.
"What kind of son are you?! You can't even protect your sister!"
"I-I'm sorry father! Please! It was my fault!"
"Sorry! Isn't! Enough!"
Suddenly familiar old sneakers were beside her, but in her fear she tenses when she looked up with tears in her eyes and a hand with blood all over it holding her nose. Despite circumstances, Jesse felt her shoulders sag at the shocked face of her friend, tears once again welling over her eyes. She must have looked pathetic huddled into a corner in her skirt and sweater.
"Shit, Jesse—!" Demetri let his guard down for a split second to check on his friend and that was all the time needed for Hawk to grab him around the neck, forcing him down onto the ground and propping his arm up over his back. Jesse was petrified as she watched Demetri slam into the ground loudly, unable to move or do anything from the nightmare she was in.
"W-wait! Wait! Eli! It's me!" Demetri begged from in front of Jesse, eyes panicking as he felt his arm sting with pain. He struggled the little he could, fearful of moving any more that would bring him more pain, making a look over at a freaking out Jesse in before continuing his struggle so he could get her out of there. "Please! Eli!"
Jesse was made of ice, frozen solid and cold with terror as she stared horrified at her best friend begging and nearly sobbing for his best friend to come back to him. To leave the darkness and see the light again, to be with him, to stop torturing himself and others. Hawk stared down at him, eyes flickering up for a second and freezing at the huddled girl.
