{jurassic park}
Free and at the CK

Jesse's car eased into the parking lot of the old karate studio. The fading sign, the peeling paint, and the empty parking spaces cast a sense of desolation. The place held no fond memories for her, and a deep-seated bitterness resurfaced as she put her car in park.

She shook her head, trying to dispel the unpleasant memories, and made her way to the small convenience store in the shopping center. Inside, the fluorescent lights buzzed, and the aisles were neatly stocked with snacks and drinks. Jesse picked up a trio of Arizona green teas and three rainbow-colored blow pops, a sweet deal for just a dollar.

Emerging from the store with the chime of a cheap bell, she walked back to her car and leaned up against it, the warm sun casting a gentle glow on her surroundings. Jesse unwrapped one of the lollipops, savoring its sweet taste as she pulled out her tablet and let the sugary sphere reside in her cheek. With a swipe, she checked her messages, her expression growing pensive.

It must have been nice to live within walking distance to the dojo he once attended, Jesse pondered. Only a five minute brisk walk from home turned into a small drive, but she guessed it was better than selling your soul to the devil like her. She pulled out the lollipop and went to answer the guys back.

Just as she was about to reply to a message, she glanced up and saw a familiar pair of figures approaching in the distance. With a squint of her eyes she pushed the sucker back into her mouth to wave them over and grinned over at the two.

"Get in losers!" Jesse teased as they approached her vehicle, tossing them each a green tea. Eli caught his can swiftly with one hand while Demetri seemed to stumble for a bit, but ultimately grabbed his without any catastrophe.

They slid into their respective places with Eli up front already fiddling with the music and Demetri lounged in the back, happily texting away as he took a sip of his drink. It almost felt like nothing had changed.

"So how'd you get away?" Eli was the first to break the silence but his visual attention remained on his phone to pick the best playlist.

"Well, with Cobra Kai's win I was blessed with a little autonomy." Jesse said sarcastically as she watched him pick a song approvingly while absently rubbing her steering wheel with fondness. "Father dearest gave me back my car and Kyler wants to go drink with friends so I drove him to whatever-his-name-is house."

"Any suspicions about your tablet or location?"

"Nope." Her 'p' popped as she pulled up her tablet with a smirk, her sucker rested in her cheek causing an almost imperceptible lisp. "But right now I'm technically at Cobra Kai..." she trailed off as she clicked around on one of the apps the boys had designed. "And according to my tracker I will be here for, ah, another hour before heading back home where I will be for the next 24 hours."

Demetri's and Eli's attention had both turned to their female friend as she started to explain her plan and grins slowly grew on their faces. With shouts of success all three friends high fives each other and Eli loaded up a playlist.

"So what are we waiting for?" Demetri cried out incredulously as he leaned forward and snatched one of the the two suckers up front. "We've got some comics to catch up on and-".

"-and games-" Eli jumped in with a smirk as he buckled himself in.

"-and manga-" Jesse turned on the car.

"Urgh, please don't tell me you still read that crap-"

"-and who cried while reading-?"

"Fuck off, Park-!"
