"Absolutely not."

"Why would you not? What's the point of taking karate if you don't spar?"

Jesse gave Kyler a look and her twin had the humility to wince, scratching the back of his head as he nodded in understanding. "Right, right. Not here 'cause you wanna be." He muttered lowly with a sigh, tying his black belt onto his waist.

"...Dad threatened to limit my implant usage if I don't compete though." Jesse whispered under her breath to her brother who flinched at the thought. "But I can't fight with them on which means I have to be completely deaf!"

"...you know, I still don't understand how you know Sensei."

Jesse sighed, hugging herself tightly. There wasn't much that she didn't tell Kyler and vice versa. Of course there were secrets that they kept to themselves, but for the most part they told each other everything. A side effect of literally sharing DNA she supposed. From her first kiss on the playground to Kyler's years long crush, they were open with each other. Every time she tried to begin it felt like her throat was closing around its self and a bowling ball was being digested in her stomach.

"It's just-"

"Alright everybody, circle up."

Never did she think that the old geezers of Cobra Kai would be a saving grace. With a shrug, Jesse ignored the way Kyler looked at her as she took a step onto the mat and stood up next to her sibling with a fake face of oh no, I was interrupted! And Kyler shot her one of this isn't over.

Yeah, but I'm more stubborn.

A shuffle next to her had her looking curiously over at Kenny, who offered a smile at the girl. He wasn't really that much taller than her, Jesse mused silently as she returned the smile with one of her own. It had been a week of these stupid practices and so far Kyler was the only person who actually spoke to her, but Kenny seemed intent to stay near her whenever he could.

It was strangely endearing and reassuring.

"Recently we spoke about weakness. And that identifying that weakness and getting rid of it so that your opponent can't exploit it is integral to the success of any fight." John Kreese spoke slowly in contrast to his partner. The way he spoke was a relief to Jesse who sometimes had difficulty keeping up with conversations, but the relief was countered by the glint in his eyes that hid his intentions too well. "We will be following up on that lesson while also teaching the next part."

"How to identify a weakness in your enemy." Jesse didn't like the smile on Silver's face as he slowly walked in the circle, eyes on her for way too long. "And how to exploit it."

"Parks, on the mat." Kreese ordered as Silvers went over to the opposite side of the circle and everyone looked over to the twins. Immediately Kyler smirked and bounced onto the mat, gifting his sister with a harder than necessary punch to the arm.

"Alright, who wants it?" Kyler antagonized and Jesse rolled her eyes at the way her twin jumped around like a street fight on steroids

"I believe I used the plural, did I not, Mr. Park." Kreese corrected the teen wth a smirk and Kyler's bouncing slowly came to a halt as it started to click who he was fighting. "Both."

Jesse's eyes widened at the realization and unconsciously took a step as all eyes appeared on her. Her brother stared at her with lips parted, unable to get a proper word out as she was guided forward by Kreese motioning the girl to enter the circle.

Her heart was eating itself or there was a parasite chomping away at it with every step she took closer to her brother, a frown on her face, unable to feel the ground beneath her feet. Sure, she fought with her brother, what sister didn't? Wrestling on top of the couch for the remote, tackling each other for the last piece of pizza, and even hitting each other in retaliation so hard that it bruised.
