Two Hearts (Joyce Byers x Fem Reader)

Anger is a force to reckon with

It was just an hour or two after you and Joyce woke up, and she was fired up.

You stand beside her as she paces the hall of her house.

"Joyce, what's wrong?" you ask.

"That thing! This whole thing! The mind flayer controls the Demo-things, right?!" she asks.

You nod.

"So, I'm gonna take revenge for Bob! I'm gonna kill that thing! Hopper and I already discussed it over the phone while you were asleep, and he's already down in the lab with El, trying to reach the portal! I have sedatives and Hopper's cabin!" she replies.

"What are you gonna do?" you ask.

She stops pacing, taking your hand in hers, "I'll explain it when we get there. Come with me. Please.".

"Of course I will, but is what you're planning on dangerous?" you inquire.

She begins to lead you outside, "You bet your bottom dollar it is.".

You two get into her car with her in the drivers seat.

"Joyce, I don't want you to get hurt!" you exclaim.

She shakes her head, "You promised you'd take care of my babies. If I die tonight, keep that promise. I love you.".

She kisses you before driving off, you in the passenger's seat beside her.

You know you can't stop her now.

She lost one of her closest friends and now she was angered.

And a Mother and best friend's anger, is a force to reckon with.

Soon, however, she stops in front of Hoppers spare cabin.

She opens the car door for you before taking your hand and taking you inside.

Upon walking in, you see Will on a bed, surrounded by heaters with some girl and Jonathan holding hands in a corner.

Before she approaches him, she turns to you, holding both of your hands in hers.

The anger flickers away from her eyes for that moment as she looks up at you.

"If anything goes haywire, run. Run as far as you can and take Jon with you. Don't come back for me. I want you to be safe.... God, what am I doing bringing you here...? How about you go back home? It's safer there." she says, arguing with herself, her expression softening upon realizing she put you in danger.

"No, Joy. There's no way I'm staying home knowing you're in harm's way. I love you too much for that. I'm here, and I'm not leaving no matter what. It's all of us or none of us. I'm going to protect you no matter how dangerous it gets. I promise." you whisper.

Tears shine in her eyes as she tilts her head up to kiss you sweetly.

Then, she pulls away after a moment, "Y/N... this may be too soon but... you're the love of my life. I'd never forgive myself if I was the reason you died tonight.".

You shake your head, "This is my choice, Joy. I'm staying.".

She sighs, "Stubborn as a mule I swear...".

You smile, kissing her again before Joyce turns back around to face Will, Jonathan and the girl.

Jonathan chuckles, "Lovebirds...".

The girl smiles, approaching you.

She holds her hand out, "I'm Nancy. I'm something of Jon's girlfriend.".
