Chapter Fourteen: Night Terror
Back to the Old House - The Smiths

Cherry felt like an empty shell. She stayed in her house ignoring anyone who tried to help, especially Nikki. When Cherry found out  Vince had gotten out of jail she was furious, he only served 19 days out of his 30 day sentence which pissed her off. The writer stopped taking care of herself and spiraled into her cocaine, it was a small sense of comfort to her.

Cherry lay on her bed the pastel blue covers soaked in tears and vodka. Her normal lively blue eyes dull with emptiness. Her sleeves were stained a deep brown from the open wounds that scattered up her arms. Her phone rang for what felt like the millionth time, the daily occurrence of one of her friends attempting to call her. The phone beeped as it went to voicemail and Cherry perked up at the voice.

"Cher it's Vin please call we need to talk" Cherry felt the anger bubble in her stomach at just the sound of his voice.

He killed her Raz why the fuck would she listen to anything Vince needed to say. Vince had ruined her life completely. Her eyes brimmed with a mix of angry and sad tears as she sunk deeper into her mattress. She wanted Nikki but she was scared to call him.

Her teary eyes darted towards the phone as she sighed. "One call wont heart" she croaked out. Reaching over she lifted the phone of the receiver and dialed Nikki.

The phone ringing filled Cherry with dread as the line went dead. Her heart shattered as she frantically dialed the next person. The phone rang again and the person finally answered.

"Cherry?" Mick spoke from over the phone, he sounded slightly relieved but also concerned.

"Sorry for ignoring you" the blonde mumbled, she felt so childish talking to the guitarist. "I just needed time, you know?"

"Yeah take as much time as you need Cher we know you need space" Mick said calmly. Cherry smiled her first smile in weeks. "Vince wants to talk to you by the way"

Cherry sucked in a harsh breath before responding. "Yeah well Vince can go fuck himself, fucking cunt" she seethed slamming down the phone. The blonde huffed as she grabbed a plate of coke that rested on her nightstand.

The blonde snorted up the lines, her head spinning as she did. Tossing the dish onto the floor she grabbed the tattered top hat beside her pulling it to her chest.

"I'm sorry" she mumbled into the hat. Her breathing slowed as she fell asleep.

Cherry was experiencing every stage of grief, and they were hitting her like a freight train. Her emotions were so fucked she couldn't function. She pushed the people who genuinely cared away and it was all her fault. She had thought about what would happen if she just ceased to exist, it's not like anyone would care.

For the first time in ages she dreamed. She dreamt she was small again, the small braids that she vaguely remembered hung on her shoulders as she sat in her old room. Her small body was decked in bruises, some small, some major. The sound of heavy boots made her toss the book she was holding under her bed.

"Charlotte I swear to go if you're not asleep" her father boomed loudly as he trudged up the stairs. Cherry could hear a woman obnoxiously giggle in the hall as light poured into her room as her dad checked.

"Leave the fucking brat" the woman groaned her boney hand closing the door. Cherry peaked up from her covers sighing and grabbing her book.

She was reading a random book she found at her school, it was called Nancy Drew and it was about a girl who was a spy. Cherry loved it, she wanted to be her. Grabbing her small flashlight she began to read.

"I fucking knew it" her father screamed as he barged into her room practically ripping the door of its hinges. He stormed towards the little girl, ripping her out of her bed by her arm.

Cherry screamed as her father dragged her down the stairs. She pleaded as he dragged her to the living room, throwing her to the ground. Cherry's sobs rang through the house as her father kicked the small girl over and over, the blonde curled into herself as she screamed and sobbed. The woman her dad brought home chuckled as she watched the abuse, a bottle of vodka in her hands.

Cherry shot awake with a scream as sobs racked her ribs. She had never been able to remember anything about her dad and this was the first dream she had in ages. She stayed still for a moment, her breathing rapid as she cried. She curled into herself feeling like a small child as she cried into her knees.
