The next morning was brutal. Maya had one of the worst hangovers she has ever experienced. Going to the hotel to pick up Mom and Pop was a struggle itself, she probably shouldn't have been driving but all her things were packed as ready in the truck, Pop would have to drive. Closing the truck door caused her head to pound behind her eyes, she had to steady herself against the door. Everything made her feel dizzy, the elevator to the top floor had her closing her eyes. Walking was better but not by much.

"Maya, You look awful baby." Her mother said.

She gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek, "I feel awful. I didn't even drink that much. I must have had something slipped in my drink ."

"What?" Pop asked, alarmed.

Maya waved it off, "It's no big deal I was never alone just made the night a little weird."

"Weird how?" Her mother asked.

"Well it started after I left you guys here. I swear I heard something following me in the alley by the club. Then I accidentally punched this guy cause he walked up behind me, Kal." She couldn't help but smile thinking about their time on the dance floor.

"Kal?" Pop asked again.

Maya returned to her story, "Yeah he hung out with us for a few hours at the club. While we were dancing I swear I saw something again but now it must have been whatever was in my drink cause it went away as soon as I saw it. Then the rest of the night was like all the others I have had drinking and dancing with Alice."

"Maybe you drank a little more than you thought." Her mother said, "Eat something I'm sure it will help."

There was a full spread in the hotel suite at the table. Usually Maya would have to wait until noon before she could stomach food with a hangover but food actually sounded good. She plated some eggs, bacon it makes everything better, and potatoes. Pop and her mother went to the other room all she could hear were muffled conversation as she sat to eat.

"Pop, don't give me that look." Sarah said.

Pop sat on the bed, "Sarah you need to tell her. It's happening just like he said it would. You can't wait for him to tell her."

"He said it's still not time. If we tell her too soon she will be discovered and Cedric said it's not a life he wants for her." Sarah explained.

"Well it looks like it's not going to be up to him. You are her mother, you are the one that is here now, tell her before someone else does and she accuses you of lying to her." Pop erged.

Sarah sat down next to him, "I don't know Pop. This is a world that we don't know. We have to take advice from Cedric, he is the expert in this. He loves her and won't let anything bad happen to her. Let's get her settled back home and then deal with it, this could just be like she said a hangover."

Pop laughed, "Really that's what you are sticking with Doctor?"

"No," She took Pop's hand, "We'll need to be here for her, if Cedric is right we are in for a bumpy ride. Come on, let's get back out there before she starts to suspect something."

Maya was laying on the couch with her eyes closed, her stomach feeling better but her energy still drained. Pop lifted her legs to sit down and placed them back on his lap. He massaged her feet like he always did when they sat like this.

"I'll drive us home sweetheart, you can sleep in the back." He said.

She opened her eye peeking at him. His gray hair was slicked back like always, the sleeves of his gray button down were rolled up to his forearms just below his elbows showing off his colorful tattoos. The suspenders holding his pants were more show than necessity, a habit he said came from her grandmother; she loved him in those. He didn't look like your average Pop, he was still just as fit as he was forty years ago. Running the gym gives him time to work out, he gives the young guys a run for their money.
