Life is not fair. Even if you are the daughter of a celebrity, your life doesn't have to be milk and honey. This is how Freen Sarocha Lovato Jonas had felt since day one.
Despite being the daughter of Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas, Freen was never a spoiled child. She was mostly raised by her mother's family because Demi was always busy touring around the world. Freen grew up being a sad child, and she became very mature at a young age. She spent a lot of time with her aunt Dallas, who seemed closer than her mother. She always cared for Freen and guided her, similar to a mother. A few months ago, Dallas has passed away due to cancer, and Freen never left her aunt until she had her last breath. Ever since then, she started smoking, and she closed herself.
Demi never liked the idea of her daughter to become a celebrity. She thought Freen will have her fate: she will get into drugs, she will be bullied, and her life would be in danger. So, she decided to keep her out of the spotlight and make her choose a more stable career. That's why, Freen got herself into Law School, even though she was always dreaming about becoming an actress.
Freen was obedient to her family, and never did a single thing to upset them. On the other hand, she was craving her parents' love. Her father only provided money for education, but he was not so much interested in Freen. Joe had another family now, raising his two daughters with his wife Sophie.
During her teenage days, Freen was always bullied. Her Asiatic features were a target for bullies. She was very pretty, with her dark eyes similar to Joe's shape, and her cute face shapes similar to her mother's. She took the best physical traits from her parents. Unfortunately, she never felt pretty enough and she never had a relationship.
She only had a friend, whose name is Hailee Steinfield. It's the only person Demi allowed her daughter to be friends with because she knew her parents, so there are no worries about a press reveal.
Today, it's another day when Freen had to go to the university. It's her last year, so she will have to graduate. Again, she knows her mother won't be there... and now, even Dallas won't.. she opened her package of cigarettes and put one between her lips. Right when she was ready to light it up, Hailee came to her, to say hi.
"Whoaaa! You!! Since when did you start smoking, you idiot?" Hailee shouted at her friend.
"Since when do you care about what I do? Should I tell you that you never texted me since my aunt died? Leave me alone!" Freen said while lighting up the cigarette.
"You are so crazy, my friend! I know you're hurt, but.." Hailee tried to explain, but she got interrupted.
"You know nothing! Please don't waste my time! And if my mother will find out that I'm smoking, you won't be my friend anymore."
"Yep! I got your point. By the way, since you started destroying your life, why don't you take the lead and apply to a casting, since you always wanted to be an actress? There is this amazing opportunity to film in a teenage series..." Hailee knew how much her friend wanted to become an actress. She knew she was never into Law, but she was one of the best students.
"Are you crazy??? If I wanted my mother to instantly die, I would apply to that." She blew out the smoke furiously.
"You're even crazier. Your mother would die if she finds out you were smoking, anyway. Now seriously... I always loved your mother but why can't she be like Taylor Swift? She had her daughter into music. You know... Becky Swift..." Hailee tried to explain.
"Don't know her. Don't care! I heard sometimes that there is a competition between mom and her mother, but I never paid attention to it. Let's go!" Freen said finishing her cigarette and throwing it in the trash can.
"Freen! I have to go to the Drama class. See you around? And let me know if you change your mind and want to apply for a casting." Hailee said smiling.
"You already know the answer. See you!"Freen waved goodbye to her friend and went to her class.
She kept thinking about her aunt and she remembered how she promised she will try and reach her dreams... but, how can she hurt her family by becoming an actress? She started looking around the amphitheater... She was saying to herself that she doesn't belong there.. or does she? Maybe she could do both...
Here goes her colleague, who seemed to have a crush on her - Kirk. He always comes near her and attempts to talk to her, even if he is shy.
"Hi! May I sit here?" Kirk smiled at her.
"Yeah.. sure.. come!" Freen smiled politely.
During the class, she started drawing, because that's what she does when she is bored. Kirk this time, took her drawing, which was a little girl with balloons in her hand, smiling, and wrote something on it. "Let's give her a boyfriend! ;)" He gave her drawing laughing nervously. Freen knew he just hit on her but laughed awkwardly blushing, and shaking her head.
Next break, Hailee met Freen at the cafeteria. She jumped on her back enthusiastically and kissed her cheek. Freen gave her a shocked look.
"You!!! My teacher told me the casting I was telling you about right now is expanding its deadline... Please, Freen!!! Please, come with me!!!"
"Hailee!!! Already told you I'm not doing this to my mother." Freen stated.
"Come on! Your mother won't find us unless you get the job! Let's try it! We're going to be together. Imagine if we will get to play in the same movie together. Please!!! Pretty please!"
"Hailee!!! I never took drama classes. Are you insane?" Freen angrily told her.
"Freen! What am I?? A drama student! We will get to train ourselves together." Hailee clapped her hands.
"Hmm... Nope! I will just join you." Freen said sadly.
"At least help me do some rehearsals?" Hailee said with puppy eyes.
"Ugh... Fine.."
Only if Freen would know what she got herself into. Time went by, so Freen and Hailee kept doing rehearsals for the auditions. The big day arrived. The two friends went to the auditions and they were waiting in line... You could see how crowded was. A lot of people were mumbling their scripts and kept practicing. It was nothing familiar to Freen, but Hailee noticed someone, in the crowd:
"Freen! Look! That's Taylor Swift! Probably she's here with her daughter, Becky!" Hailee said smiling and fangirling.
"Yeah.." Freen said sadly.. she wished she had either her mother or aunt by her side like this. Maybe her aunt would have been there supporting her, ready to defend her in front of her mother if she had to take the auditions. She could felt tears forming in her eyes.
"Freen! Promise me something! You wouldn't be mad at me.." Hailee said worried a little...
"What did you do???" Feen yells at her, knowing that her friend might have done something.
"You applied for this casting too!" Hailee bit her lips and closed her eyes in fear.
"You!!! How could you do this to me?".... To be continued...
