Joe sighed deeply before giving the answer that his daughter waited for. He knew that this will change everything in their lives. His thoughts were also with the Freen and what the doctor stated.
"You're a match, Freen..." Joe announced with a not-so-happy tone.
"Really? That's fantastic!" Freen said in a normal tone, and this made Joe sigh one more time.
"Freen... I don't want to force you into all of this. I want you to know that you are as important as the other daughters of mine...." Joe started explaining but he got interrupted by Freen.
"Look, dad! I really can't talk right now. Thank you so much for letting me know. I'm out with a friend right now. I'll call you later, ok? Bye!" She cut him off.
"Alright... Have fun! Take care of yourself!" Freen hang up immediately.
Becky was still next to Freen, trying to get what is ready to happen. She felt bad that she was the reason why Freen hangs up with her father so fast. She searched for Freen's facial expression, noticing the mixture of nervousness and worry behind it.
"Is everything alright? May I help you with anything? If you want, we can drop the hangout. Let's reschedule it.."
"Ugh! Becky, please stop! Let's go! Do you want to join me for the ride, and your driver will pick you up when we finish?" Freen asked and Becky nodded.
"Yes. That's a good idea." Becky followed Freen's way to the car.
On their way, Becky kept thinking that as much as she liked Freen, she hated the shutting downs. She understood from what Hailee had told her that Freen had some issues. However, she was very frustrated with this hots and colds situation like "kiss me now-forget the kiss". The fact that Freen and Hailee were friends made her more stressed, thinking the problem might be actually her. How could Hailee be her friend, and she couldn't? There might be something wrong with her.
"You're silent. What is wrong?" Freen said.
"Nothing... I'm just tired.." Becky sighed.
"Ok... you should go home, then... I don't wanna keep you if you need some rest."
"No... it's fine. We rescheduled this... *small pause* So, since your father is a bodyguard, am I in danger? You hang up on him just to be with me. He should be mad." Becky joked trying to remove this tension between them.
"Nope.. he won't be mad.." Freen sighed and kept her way on the driveway. "Yay! We arrived!" Freen announced in a childish tone, making Becky chuckle.
"Let's go, princess!" Freen unbuckled the seatbelt.
They both made their way to the ordering line, waiting. Freen told Becky to go sit somewhere and she will handle the order, but Becky refused. They both ordered something to eat and drink and made their way to the table.
"Let me take a picture of our drinks and post it on my InstaStory. I'll tag you." Becky said enthusiastically, making Freen laugh.
"I'm not usually posting, you know? I'm more into appreciating others' posts." Feen stated while watching Becky tagging her.
"Done! Repost it!" Becky told her.
"Hearts, huh?"Freen smirked, reporting the instastory, making the younger girl blush.
"Thought it was cute... So, how is the university going? I am studying Music, and I'm feeling very stressed lately. I'm taking some Pedagogy classes and they are awful." Becky confessed, taking a bite from her food.
"Yeah, I know... During filming, I neglected my studies a little, but it's a good thing we will finish everything next week, so I could study hard. And, I also took Pedagogy classes in my third year. I really enjoyed that. I could help you if you want. Planning on becoming a teacher?"
"Yes... I think I wanna be a teacher! This year I'm gonna graduate." Becky said.
"So you had a 3 years program. Mine was an integrated 5 years LLB course...Kirk is also doing it, as you already know. I also want to become a teacher. I was thinking of being a lawyer, and teaching at the university as a part-time job, if they allow me to." Freen said taking a sip from her drink.
"Nice. So we will both be teachers, then.." Becky concluded.
"Yes.." Freen agreed while starting to eat her food.
"Have you ever met Demi Lovato?" Becky said finishing her food.
At the sound of her mother's name, Freen almost choked on her food. Why would Becky ask such questions? Can't she talk about food or any other trivial subject? She quickly thought about what to answer, and try to be closer to the truth.
"Yes! I did.." Freen said, coughing.
"Nice. I mean, my mother told me she is crazy, tho.. she thinks Demi is too desperate for attention and very jealous of my mother's career." Becky continued, and Freen hated hearing those words about her mother. No matter what, Demi was her mother and she felt like defending her.
"Well... She is wrong. Demi is a nice human being. And don't make me compare the two of them, please. In fact, let's not discuss about Demi, please!" Freen said feeling how bad she wanted to explode and say how her mother called hers a "sneaky bitch" the other day, and she couldn't agree more.
"Yeah... you might have been fed up with the questions about her... Do you have any siblings?" Becky asked trying to change the subject.
"Nope. I feel like I already told you the other day... Becky, what are those questions?" Freen almost snapped.
"Freen! You do realize that I mostly know nothing about your family, and your background, don't you? Why don't you like to share this type of information with me? One day we will have nothing to talk about anymore because we only talk about work and preferences." Becky said sighing sadly at the older girl.
"Look! Why do you need to know all this stuff?? This is so stupid. We aren't even..." Freen snapped, angrily, but she was interrupted by a small child who was selling flowers.
"Hello! Would you like to buy some flowers?" The poor little girl asked, making both girls turn their heads to her.
"Mhm... Hi, kid! Didn't you see that we were talking?" Freen asked frowning but trying to calm down her temper.
"Freen... She is a child. Don't be so harsh! I don't have cash, unfortunately... Maybe try to someone else's table, sweetie?" Becky said in a soft British accent.
"Mhm... How much are the flowers?" Freen asked the kid.
"3$ each one." The little girl said.
"Ok... Give me all your flowers. You should be going home and studying, not selling flowers on the street, kid! Let's see... Here... 100$...Go home and take care!" Freen said lending the money to the little girl.
"But, miss, I only have 18 roses.. and I can't give you the change." The girl's eyes widened.
"Kid... It's fine... Take them, and please go home! Kids are supposed to play not sell flowers as I said. Thanks for the flowers!" Freen said.
"Thank you! God bless you!! You are a very nice couple. May you have a happy life together!" The girl said happily leaving them chuckling at her cuteness.
"Bye, kid! Take care!" Both of the girls waved.
"These are for you. You know, in Europe, it's not great to offer a lady an even number of flowers. You only give even numbers to funerals. Some other parts of this world don't care about it, but, you are half-British... So, here...." Freen took away one flower from the flower bouquet and gave them to Becky.
"Awww... Red roses... Are you a nerd? You know almost everything. This is so cute.." Becky took them and smelled them. How couldn't she fall for all these kinds of gestures? She forgot completely that they were in a middle of an argument after receiving those flowers. The fact that Freen paid attention to all the details and she shared random nerdy facts with her made Becky melt.
"Yes.. wanna go home? I could give you the ride if you want..." Freen asked Becky while sipping from her drink.
"Nope. It's fine. I'll call my driver to come and pick me up like we already settled. It would be less obvious." Becky said, and she took her phone out to call her driver.
"It was nice going out. If you want, we can go somewhere fun next time. Not that I don't love Starbucks, but I would prefer something more fun, like an art gallery." Freen said after Becky hang up her phone.
"Yes, why not? I never went to an art gallery. Or we should go to Disneyland. I could provide the tickets. Btw, the driver arrives in five minutes. Wanna take a selfie? Good material for PR strategy." Becky felt the need to explain her request.
"Sure... Yeah. You know, I don't like taking pics. I don't like myself in the photos. I never felt pretty enough to fill my Instagram with pics." Freen confessed.
"Really? You are one of the prettiest women I met. I mean, I wish I could have your body! Come on!" Becky tried to boost Freen's confidence, and this made Freen blush.
"Neah... You are more beautiful than me. Now, just take the stupid picture before I change my mind." Freen added while both of them felt their cheeks burning.
"Ok.." Becky took her phone up and snapped a selfie with her older friend. They were nervous, so the picture wasn't the best one, but it didn't matter. "Done! It's cute. I'll post it right now." Becky said giggling, making Freen roll her eyes.
The driver arrived, and the girls had to say goodbye. Becky took her bouquet, smelling them one more time. She stared Freen into her eyes, grinning from ear to ear. Freen smiled awkwardly when she was taken by surprise by Becky who kissed her cheeks.
"Thank you! I really had fun! See you soon!" Becky said blushing at her act of courage.
"Mhm... No worries... Mhm... Put them in a vase.. Or you could put some nail polish on them, in case you want to preserve them. Mhm.." Freen started mumbling awkwardly while rubbing her neck shyly.
"Have anyone told you how cute you are when you let this nerdy side of you out?" Becky laughed and pinched Freen's left cheek. "Goodbye, Freen Sarocha Jonas!" Becky said while making her way to the car.
"Bye, Becky!" Freen waved to her and hopped in her car, smiling awkwardly.
When she arrived home, Freen found her mother next to the piano and some music sheets in front of her. She went behind her back and hugged her tightly, and kissed her cheek.
"Awww, sweetheart! How are you?" Demi said placing her hands on Freen's hands.
"I'm fine. You? Any new good song?" Freen asked softly leaning her cheek to her mother's top of the head.
"Yeah... I wrote a special song. I am still working on it and I won't sing it to you yet.." Demi answered.
"Mom... Here! This is for you!" Freen said offering the remaining rose to her mother.
"Awww.... my Freeniee... let me guess! You had a date, and that's why to have this clingy attitude. And you give me your flower so I won't ask questions, isn't it?" Demi chuckled.
"Neah, mom... I went out with a friend. I bought this flower for you. Thought it's cute." Freen said.
"With a friend... I won't ask the name, because my maternal instinct tells me I will get mad, so I will not ask.." Demi said smelling her rose.
"Good.. I'll go change into my PJs. I am feeling very tired." Freen kissed Demi's cheek and untangled her arms from her.
"Ok, baby girl. Thank you so much for the rose! You are the best! If you still need me, I'll be here... Oh! Could you please preserve the rose as you did with the others?" Demi asked her daughter, smiling at her. Freen used to give Demi flowers since she was little, and Demi still had some of them.
"Sure... I will do it in my room." Freen said and picked the rose up from her mother's hand.
Demi smiled awkwardly, seeing her daughter climb the stairs, and gently touched her roses tattoos. She had three rose tattoos: two on her left inner forearm, and one on her right pinky finger. Before having Freen, Demi had a tattoo with lips, and when her daughter was born, she decided to cover the lips with a rose, representing Freen. Then, she decided to have another one next to it, representing her presence near her daughter. While Freen was growing up, she found out about that fact with the even and odd number of flowers, so she had the pinky one. Why the pinky? Freen always tangled on her pinky finger when she was little, and it was also a "pinky promise"  to never let her daughter be hurt by anyone. Almost every tattoo was related to Freen.
Upstairs, Freen had a shower and put on her PJs. She took a seat next to her desk and took the flower smiling into her hands, remembering the happiness on Becky's face when she received her roses. While staring at the flower, her phone lit up with a notification from Instagram.
"@becccca__ Mentioned you in their story" Freen read it out loud.... "This kid..." She sighed deeply.
Freen opened the notification and saw their selfie. She laughed when she saw her face, and the lion gif alongside a heart emoji added to it. She reposted the picture and added the caption "At least one of us is looking great in this pic. Hint: it's not me.😜🤍". As soon as she reposted it, she saw another story from Becky: the bouquet of roses, alongside the nail polish, with a lion emoji on the picture. She replied to it "You, kid... Not everything should be posted on Instagram.🤣🤦🏻‍♀️". She put her phone down and started preserving the rose, smiling. Tomorrow she will have to drop the news to her mother about her being a match for Eda. She didn't want to mess up their moods tonight...
