Cautiously,Karina reached out and took the case,holding it up and testing its weight. It was long and slender, about a foot,made of sturdy leather.

Eyeing her new bodyguard for a moment, she snapped it open to reveal what looked like an Apple watch inside with a heavy duty nylon wristband.

Blinking in surprise, she held it to show Winter and cocked her head in question.

"It is something new our security firm is using. It looks like an Apple watch but has special functionality. If you tap the screen one and then hold your finger on it so.." Winter said as she reached across the table to do just that,"it will send me an alert immediately."

Holding out her left arm,she drew back the sleeve of her coat to reveal and identical watch, the touchscreen flashing bright red.

"It vibrates to let me know i have an alert. It also monitors your heart rate,much like a fitness tracker,and will send me an alert if you appear to be in distress."

"Wah, that is so cool," Karina said softly as she look the watch out of the case.

She blinked as Winter took the case from her hand,carefully pulling the watch out and clasping it around her wrist.

She was surprised at how tender and delicate Winter was, not what she expected from the hands of a former soldier turned bodyguard.

"I just ask that you wear it at all times. Any time you leave the dorm I'll follow and if you do anything in your room that will.."

Winter pursed her lips slightly, eyes twinkling as she spoke the next few words, "raise your heartbeat and make you sweat, let me know beforehand so I don't kick in the door and interrupt anything."

Karina sputtered a moment,eyes wide at the implications being made before shaking her head, "No,no...i don't have anyone into my room for that kind of stuff,"

She hissed quietly as she leaned forward,her neck and cheeks flushing red in embarrassment.

Winter let out a soft chuckle,as she leaned back on her seat,crossing arms across her stomach.

"Very well, then. Still,if you are going to watch a scary movie or exercise in
your dorm room, be sure to let me know. As long as we communicate properly everything should go smoothly."

"Smoothly?" Karina looked incredulously at Winter.

"I can't imagine things going smooth, especially with you looking like.."
she waved a hand as thought to encompass the entirety of the woman sitting across from her,

"like...THAT. You're going to cause a stir," Karina blurted out.

Looking around she could see people constantly looking over at Winter, men with lust filled eyes and girls with a mix of admiration or envy.

Shaking her head,Winter offered up a wry smile, "Trust me, things will be fine. Once i dress down and skip
makeup,i will look like a normal girl who simply entered college late in life."

Karina gave the woman a level stare, voice flat,"Right. I don't believe it."

She didn't,really. Short of plastic surgery to make what looked like a perfect golden ratio that made up Winter's face, she couldn't imagine any way to make her look unattractive.

"So, when does this start? Do you
move in tomorrow and go with me to class when it starts back up the day after?"

"Right now, actually. If you wish, we can become a bit more acquainted to make you comfortable."

Sighing, Karina nodded, accepting the fact that her life of freedom was now suddenly cut short.

"Still, at least it is a woman and not some overbearing man i have to deal
with," she thought to herself as she looked Winter over again.
