“Really,” Winter said with a sure tone. “I’m trained to fight through the fear, but the fear is always there.”

“How did those other guys get there so fast?”

“Ah, that,’ Winter said as she ruffled Karina’s dark locks playfully.

“They have been on standby and i sent them the map of our route today. They were keeping nearby just in case.”

“I thought you were my only guard,” Karina said with a pout. She knew she should be happy at this moment for the additional bodyguards but part of her didn’t want more.

She had grown to like the idea of only having Winter near her.

“Are they going to follow me around close now everywhere i go?” Her voice was filled with worry.

“No. They’ll be nearby but i’ll be the only one always with you.” Satisfied with the reply, Karina closed her eyes, her entire body feeling tired now that the adrenaline had worn off.

They sat there quietly together, arms wrapped bout one another, for along moment. She found comfort in that embrace, Winter’s presence giving her peace of mind.

“Who were those guys?”

“We don’t know yet,” Winter admitted. “Someone is trying to blackmail your father and there was worry someone might try and kidnap you as leverage.”

Heaving a long sigh, she couldn’t hide the anger in her voice. “I wish i had a gun so i could have shot them.”

Blinking, Karina pulled her head back, eyes wide as she turned her regards Winter, taken aback by the vehemence in the woman’s voice.

As she caught sight of the woman’s face fully, with clear vision, her eyes began to water again.

“Oh no,” Karina whispered as she saw the swollen lower lip, torn by the punch, and dried blood covering Winter’s chin.

“I’m so sorry,” Karina cried as she pulled Winter tight against her, holding the woman close. Her body shook in distress, her fingers feeling numb as a fresh wave of tears washed down her face. She could feel Winter cradle her, rocking back and forth slowly.

“I thought this was all just a precaution and nothing would happen,” she whimpered.

“I had hoped so as well,” Winter replied as she pulled Karina into her lap,the girl curling up against her like a little kid. She noted how small and light Karina was,her body soft and pliable to the touch.

Karina closed her eyes and fought to hold back tears as she buried her face into Winter’s neck, the warm scent of vanilla washing over her senses. She found it calming, her heart slowing as the tears began to dry up.

“She’s so strong,” Karina thought as the woman’s hands held her, arms like a steel embrace. She could feel the tension wound up in Winter.

“I could just kiss her neck,” Karina thought as she inhaled the woman’s scent once more. Her body seemed to react to the thought on it’s own,her red lips parting as she brought them to place a lingering, hot kiss on the side of Winter’s neck.

She felt the arms encircling her soften,a soft gasp from Winter filling her ears before turning into a soft moan.

Karina’s began to gently nibbled and kiss against Winter’s pale flesh as the woman rolled her head to the side, her dark hair falling free to expose the length of her slender neck.

Bringing a hand to rest against Karina’s back, Winter’s fingers gripped and clenched at the girl’s sweater.

“We shouldn’t be doing this,” Winter all but moaned, her entire body vibrating beneath those kisses.
