Chapter 9

The next morning I wake to screams. I run downstairs and the house is empty. I go outside and to my eyes I see houses on fire dead bodies all over the floor people shooting kill each other. I stand there frozen to the spot not knowing what to do where to go, when someone comes up behind me. "Julia we need to go right now" I turn around and see Maggie gripping into my arm. "Where's Carl and Judith?" I ask that's the first thing that comes to my mind, when I woke up they weren't there. "Their out already come on we need to go right now" Maggie says pulling my arm. I grab her hand and we run as fast we can dodging bullets, she hands me a gun to help her shot the ones with the symbol on their heads. Maggie goes to go through the big gate but then I remembered the secret hole.

"Maggie follow me, I know another way out!" I yell over the sound of gun shots. She follows me to the hole I open the door and climb through, Maggie following after me. We run into the woods where we find the others. The first person i see is Carl, I run right up to him and hug him. "Thank god your ok" I say to him. "I'm fine are you hurt?" Carl replies examining me making sure I have no cuts or anything. "I'm fine, where's my dad?" I ask looking around for him. "He's gone with my dad" Carl replies. We sit down together and he puts his arm around me, as I rest my head on his shoulder.

After a couple minutes my dad and Rick come back. "Dad!" I say getting up and running to him. I hug and and then go back to sitting next to Carl. "Ok so Alexandria can't be rebuilt, looks like we're gonna have to go back to looking for another place to stay." Rick says. "Are we ever gonna be able to live happily again?" Carl asks standing up. "This is ridiculous honestly, I'm tired of moving around" Carl storms off mad. "I'll go after him." I say to Rick.

I follow Carl though the woods when he stops to sit down. I sit down next to him when he breaks down into tears. "Aww Carl its ok, everythings gonna be ok" I say pulling Carl into a hug. He wraps his arms around me and crys into my arms and you can hear the pain in his voice. "It's ok let it all out" I say rubbing his back. "I'm just so tired of moving around like we can never stay in the one spot, I just want things to go back to the way they used to be before all this happened" Carl says lifting his head off my shoulder. "It's gonna be hard Carl but just remember there's always light at the end of the tunnel." I reply, "thank you Jules" Carl replies. "Come on let's go back to the others"

We get up and walk back to where the others are and we can see everyone looking at us. "What are yous all looking at? Let's go" I say, giving everyone dirtys.
