The walk back to Zim's house was so awkward.

Clembrane stood behind them the entire way, humming some nonsense about fluffy rocks. Zim and Dib were both completely silent almost the entire time. Neither of them would look at each other, they didn't want to make a sound.

But it wasn't long before Dib couldn't stand the silence anymore.

"So..." Dib said hesitantly. "You're still loyal to your Tallest then?" Stupid question, stupid topic, stupid me, why do I say things...

"OF COURSE! Zim will ALWAYS be loyal! ALWAYS! You pathetic humans would never understand!" Zim grumbled.

"Then explain," Dib said bluntly.

Zim hissed. "Zim doesn't need to explain himself to the likes of you, Dib-worm! Despite everything that MIGHT prove otherwise, the Tallest NEED me and I will NOT leave them!"

"What do they need you for?"

Zim growled deeply in his throat. "ISN'T IT OBVIOUS?? I am their GREATEST INVADER!!! Why wouldn't they need me? WHY WOULDN'T THEY WANT ME?? I AM THEIR GREATEST ALLY AND THEY ARE FOOLS TO THINK OTHERWISE!!!" he screeched.

"Play nice kids, eat you vegtables!" Clembrane interjected before returning to humming.

Dib shrugged off Clembrane's comment and focused on what Zim said. "So you think they are fools?"

"WHA, NO! ZIM SAID NO SUCH THING!"

"You used the present tense... They are foolish to think otherwise," Dib pointed out.

Zim spluttered. "Maybe you have DIRT in your EAR HOLES, Dib!!!"

"No, that's what you said."

"LIES! Even if it WAS true, then my Tallest will see very soon! VERY SOON I TELL YOU!! SHE WILL SEE!"

"Sure she will..." Dib sighed.

Zim roared with anger and lunged at Dib.

Dib stumbled back a bit, but Clembrane intervened before he could touch his enemy. "Zimmy just tired, he almost home now. Play nice Zim!"

"Zim WILL NOT play nice, pathetic clone!" Zim tried to dodge Clembrane to get to Dib.

Clembrane just shoved Zim away, knocking him to the sidewalk. "Das no way to treat your best fwiend!"

Zim just sat on the sidewalk and glared at Dib. "He is NOT my friend." He then looked to the concrete, rage in his eyes.

He didn't stand up, he didn't look at Dib or Clembrane. Clembrane was oblivious as always, waiting for Zim to get up so we could keep walking.

Dib looked at Zim, shaking his head. His loyalty to his Tallest was pathetic. They would never believe in him, especially with him so desperate to prove himself. It would just be this same cycle of hope and rejection, not being able to prove what he knows was true.

Something clicked in Dib's head just then.

Zim felt the same way about his Tallest... like Dib did about his Dad.

That must be why at times like this, Dib ended up pitying him slightly. He knew what it felt like... The only difference between them was their morals.

Dib wasn't bent on world destruction.

Zim didn't care who he had to hurt.

Dib snapped back into reality when Zim sighed heavily and stood up. Without a word, he kept walking to his house. Clembrane and Dib followed. No one said anything.
